We popped down to the beach, as we have not been for a while.  Some action shots and some dreamy shots at the Atlantic Ocean. The sea is only 6 kilometers from our house, and one would think that we would go there every day. But not so, as the mountains are also only 6 kilometers away at the opposite side, so I am a bit more inclined to visit the mountains. Another thing is that there is so much more variety at the mountain side, as they are surrounded by many wine farms, and wildlife is abundant on the farms. But I digress, as we also love the sea, and it is always therapeutic to listen to the song of waves. Besides, the salty air is also good for one's lungs and it clears the nose :) I zoomed some fishermen far out and standing on a rocky ridge.  Here below you can see them in the distance.  **Now for some bird action.**   The old jetty is the home of many birds, such as cape cormorants, white-breasted cormorants and kelp gulls.  A Kelp gull below coming in to land.   Finally, one can stroll for many miles along the beach, and as long as the wind stays away, it is a real pleasure to take a slow walk with one's camera.  I said, as long as the wind stays away, as when the strong winds are up, one can get a free sandblast by walking on this beach. I have been blasted a few times and let me tell you that it is not a very pleasant affair. Tiny beach sand pebbles that sting the face until the face gets swollen and red. Thankfully this day the wind was tame, and it was a real pleasure to be out there. A couple of years ago I posted the old jetty, and it was still almost intact, but over time the sea has started to claim it back, and within the next few years that jetty will cease to exist. A pity, as it has a long history, but the constant damage by storm waves, made it too expensive to maintain. Be that as it may, I am glad to still post some photos of it, as in the far future, it will show that once there was a jetty here. Such is life. I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story. It's a fact that when you go to the beach, the places like this are very beautiful, and here when we take pictures of the birds, they are very beautiful because the view is very beautiful.

Looks like another nice place. We're a long way from the sea or mountains, but this area has its own charms. The birds have really taken over that jetty. I guess people don't use it any more.

Thank you and it is indeed a nice place. That jetty has a long history, the fishing boats offloaded their catches at the jetty and the public bought fresh fish on the jetty that the fishermen displayed. The jetty was constructed with Jarra wood, which is very costly to replace and after the storm damages every year, the municipality decided to close it. Now the sea is slowly claiming it. !BEER
