[EN/PT-BR] Perfect encounter with a turtle: Tamar Project actions | Encontro perfeito com uma tartaruga: ações do Projeto Tamar

Hi everyone!

One of the things I loved most about Fernando de Noronha was this moment. As I was a volunteer at the National Marine Park, that day I was able to closely follow the work of biologists and volunteers from Projeto Tamar on Sueste beach.

One of the activities of the Tamar Project is scientific capture, where biologists intentionally capture turtles with the aim of making markings and biometrics on the beach.

These actions are important for monitoring turtles, scientific research, environmental education, with a view to conserving sea turtles in Brazil.

The activities of the Tamar Project in Fernando de Noronha began in 1984 and in 1996 the Visitor Center was opened, a place that has information about the different species of sea turtles that exist in Brazil, self-explanatory panels, as well as environmental education lectures.

Aloha, galera!

Uma das coisas que eu mais amei em Fernando de Noronha foi esse momento. Como eu era voluntária do Parque Nacional Marinho, nesse dia eu pude acompanhar de perto o trabalho de biólogos e voluntários do Projeto Tamar na praia do Sueste.

Uma das atividades do Projeto Tamar é a captura científica, onde os biólogos capturam tartarugas de maneira intencional com o objetivo de fazer marcações e biometria na praia.

Essas ações são importantes para o monitoramento das tartarugas, pesquisas científicas, educação ambiental, com vistas à conservação das tartarugas marinhas no Brasil.

As atividades do Projeto Tamar em Fernando de Noronha tiveram início em 1984 e em 1996 foi inaugurado o Centro de Visitantes, um local que possui informações sobre as diferentes espécies de tartarugas marinhas que existem no Brasil, painéis autoexplicativos, além de palestras de educação ambiental.
