Treasure digging

I could be about to tell you how I found myself in a big adventure at a remote location, trying to find artifacts from ancient time, unknown to the common mortal... and unfortunately no, it's not the case. But I could argue this feels almost as value to me!

A small surgery urged a forced stop for a couple of days; nothing serious, but rest was needed. And considering that staying at home was rest enough, I decided to take a looooong look in some of the mess that eventually ends up piling up here and there, and go through some (needed for ages) organization! After all, procrastination is strong in me, young padawans.

Maybe this will bring me some enlightment? It was finally hanged in my living room, after arriving from Sri Lanka... 5 years ago! It waited almost the same time to be framed, though - see what I told you about procrastination?

This one is even older!

Already hanged as well, and probably one of my favourites, that came all the way from Cuba, after awesome vacations with friends. Maybe @xrayman has a similar one, he was there too! I remember a bunch of us bought these paintings, since they were so beautiful and colourful.

Truth be told, I am partially not to blame for the time it took to being able to fully aprecciate it on the wall, given it was lost in my parent's house for ages. But yes, it was probably resting on a shelf in my house together with the Buddha for likely a year... why on earth did I take this long to hang them??

The real treasures came later; after all, why stop after hanging the paintings, if there was more stuff to organize? I don't know if it was the new found energy by painting watching, or if the ear drilling surgery drilled some of the procrastination away, but the last couple of days were spent between needed rest, and going through old stuff. 

And I'm still amazed with the amount of stuff I found!

Formation diplomas that I thought I had lost. More serious stuff, such as contracts and important documents. Small souvenirs that brought memories from ages ago, and from close and not that close friends that also have a place in my heart.

And postcards, so many postcards!!

France, Belgium, Mexico, Scotland... so many places, and some of them I had completely forgotten! It was so great reading them again and remembering who sent them. Some of the people I barely have any contact nowadays, but all of them are considered friends.

And this small bunch is just a small sample, there were tons more!

I also threw a ton of stuff away, and again wondered what took me so long to get rid of them. Part of organization is knowing what you should keep, and what you should let go. And I think I've made a good use of this "rest" time: now I know where most stuff really is, and I loved the trip down memory lane. Memories are probably our most precious treasures!

Still a lot to be done, but all in due time; this was a great start. I should worry about the damn surgery side effects though: not procrastinating AND baking cookies??
