This time I will be comparing whitelisted projects according to the categories as defined on the <a href=" https://boinc.berkeley.edu/">BOINC</a> website and how they have been performing in the past months.</p>

<p>Last week I made a comparison between CPU and GPU projects [<a href="https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@parejan/gridcoin-weekly-project-update-22-jan-18">here</a>]  and found little performance differences between them. Because the differences between individual projects is substantial, I have taken a different approach using the <a href="https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/project_list ">categories</a> defined on the BOINC website.</p>
<p>I have compiled again an overview of 24 out 27 whitelisted projects and dividend them according to the 4 categories using the information from 14-Aug-2017 and 22-Jan-2018. <a href="http://boinc.drugdiscoveryathome.com/">DrugDiscovery@home</a>, <a href="https://sourcefinder.theskynet.org/duchamp/">Sourcefinder</a> and <a href="http://boinc.multi-pool.info/latinsquares/">ODLK1</a> are excluded because they were whitelisted during this period.</p>
<p> In table 1 to 4, I have presented all projects according to the four categories with their percentage increase/decrease for the following indicators:<ul style="list-style-type:circle">
<li>Team Gridcoin RAC contribution</li>
<li>GRC per 1k system RAC</li>
<li>USD per 1k system RAC</li>

<p> For the overall comparison, I have summarised the four categories with weighted averages for the three indicators  in table 5.</p>

<p>While examining the table above, I noticed this time clear differences between the categories. In the past 5 months the RAC contribution for <strong>Biology and Medicine </strong> projects have increased the most (+162%) and in terms of GRC and USD earnings per 1k system RAC, <strong>Multi-Application</strong> projects have performed the best (-12% and +120% respectively). It will be interesting to monitor whether this changes in the coming months.</p>

<p><strong>Definitions</strong><ul style="list-style-type:circle">
  <li>Recent Average RAC = The total amount of RAC produced by all systems within the Gridcoin network.</li>
  <li>Team RAC vs Overall RAC % = The proportion of RAC output team Gridcoin has produced as part of the overall RAC for the project.</li>
  <li>GRC per 1k system RAC = The amount of GRC you will receive for a system per 1000 RAC points. 
<strong>Example</strong>: You have a system which is running Rosetta@home with a RAC value of 3500. According to the chart on 30-Oct, you should gain 3.5 x 0.42 GRC = 1.47 GRC per day for this system.</li>
  <li>USD per 1k system RAC = The amount of USD you will receive for a system per 1000 RAC points.
<strong>Example</strong>: You have a system which is running NFS@Home with a RAC of 4700. According to the chart on 30-Oct, you should gain 4.7 x $0.29= $1.36 per day for this system.</li>
