I'd noticed this account several times and never really took a close look at it until @copypastewaster contacted me about it.

After a quick look at his page I decided it was time to do some digging. 

Since joining in January this account has transferred out 6327.223 in SBD. It's account currently holds 2,179.523 SBD and 5,144.009 STEEM. His pending payout according to [steem.supply](http://steem.supply/) is `Liquid: 233 USD, Invested: 234 USD` All earned from copying and pasting articles from [ZeroHedge](http://www.zerohedge.com/) and a few other sites. 

Does he participate in the community? Let's see some stats I pulled using [SteemData](https://steemdata.com) and Studio 3T for MongoDB.

SteemData and MongoDB didn't help me make heads or tales of who he votes for so I headed over to [steemd.com](https://steemd.com/@zer0hedge) and used my browsers find function to see who he was voting for. I went through several pages and all I saw was votes for his own posts and commenters on his posts.

I bet if Tyler Durden doesn't actually write the articles himself for [ZeroHedge](zerohedge.com) he does actually pay someone to do it for him. He doesn't just go out and pluck a story written by someone else from the internet copy, paste, and format for the site. 

This is a serious slap in the face to those of us here who try to write original content whether it is someone who wants to be a professional writer or the average person like me who writes the odd post about [I 💖 Bargain Shopping](https://steemit.com/blog/@patrice/i-and-128150-bargain-shopping) or posts pictures about trying to tame a house that has been neglected for years. 

I wrote this [post](https://steemit.com/blockfolio/@patrice/cointelegraph-com-blockfolio-com-releases-privacy-and-data-statement-amid-growing-concerns) as an example to newbies on how to share a post and express their thoughts and opinions. When they stumble across a copy & paste post this well rewarded it's not hard to see why they jump to the conclusion that this is something the community values. 

My thoughts are more along the lines of whether or not STEEM/SBD and the concept of Steemit will succeed if this continues to be rewarded. I usually focus more on finding plagiarism since I figure everyone who votes for sourced copy and paste articles are using their voting power the way they wish to.  Seeing this though, just "gets my goat" as my dad would say.
