 ___ *This is long overdue!* Forgive me, juggling 8-5 work and all other responsibilities, it's hard to put things together on one page. I've been skipping this content for months now; I just dread collating all the photos since I used two phones in taking photos during this trip. And every time I think about completing the puzzle, laziness creeps into my veins. π Nevertheless, I managed to write about this before the next trip with my friends happens this coming December in Panglao, Bohol. Yeah, this trip happened last December a week before [Supertyphoon Odette](https://peakd.com/hive-109288/@patsitivity/gratefulness-journal-1-the-gift-of-home) badly hit Cebu and some neighboring Provinces. I shared about [Superbaby Anthony's christening](https://peakd.com/hive-141359/@patsitivity/superbaby-anthonys-christening) a few weeks back. In the same post I mentioned that right after the christening, we traveled to our weekend destination not too far away from the city or so I thought. Haha π Today, I'll bring you to one of the best weekend destinations for family gatherings in Cebu. I know you're eyes might still be captivated by the cover photo of this post but trust me, there's more to Chateau de Blanc than the picture-perfect view of the swimming pool! ___ #### A family tradition I've mentioned this a couple of times in my previous posts but it's a passing detail that many of you won't remember. So allow me to refresh things a bit. I have seven (7) college buddies that I consider one of my life's greatest treasures. We're blockmates back in college and fate brought us together as one *Bogo* Family. In Bisaya, *Bogo* means stupid. π If that caught your interest and you have time to read a bit of history, you can check [here](https://peakd.com/hive-163772/@patsitivity/sambawan-island---im-drunk-i-love-you). In 2018, we started a pack that every year, all of us will spare a weekend to come home (in Cebu) and gather just like in the old days. And in this fleeting life, you don't get many of those. That's why we really treasure our time together. π₯° ___ #### A tour in Chateau de Blanc In 2020, we weren't complete due to COVID restrictions in place; some of our friends couldn't come to Cebu. Fast forward to 2021, finally *everyone's home*. One of our friends really wanted to stay in Chateau de Blanc and offered to pay for the rental. And mind you, it's not cheap!!! If I'm not mistaken, the rental was around Php 15,000-18,000 for 12 pax for an overnight stay. I couldn't remember the exact amount as he settled the payment himself. All other expenses were split evenly. It'll be a mistake if I immediately jump to what happened during this annual family tradition without giving you a proper tour of Chateau de Blanc's *perfect* atmosphere. Since Mark and Pallas, Anthony's parents, had to settle a few things before joining us, only five of us went earlier to check-in. We arrived at past four (4) in the afternoon. Before I started prepping our dinner, I managed to explore a *paradise*. Chateau de Blanc is a privately-owned rest house with an infinity pool situated on top of a hill; later on, you'll see the view surrounding this place. The entire area occupied by Chateau de Blanc is huge, perhaps an hectare is a good estimate.There's an outdoor dining area, a small playground for kids, a bonfire a few meters away from the pool and spacious parking lot for visitors who'll be bringing their cars. The main house is a 2-storey structure with a basement allotted for the kitchen and the househelp's quarter.  <div class="pull-left">  </div> <div class="pull-right">  </div> <div class="pull-left">  </div> <div class="pull-right">  </div>  Everywhere you look, you're surrounded by mountains and trees. There's no hint that you're still in Cebu City which makes the entire experience one of its kind. ___ #### A home away from home Once you're inside the main house, you'll instantly feel relaxed. There's no way you wouldn't feel so because the first floor is full of wide, clear glass windows that allow the freshness of the green surroundings to envelop the entire space. There's continuity in that; we're one with nature the moment we stepped in. The general feel of the first floor was *cozy* and *welcoming*. It definitely felt like we were in our actual home (except that this place is way better). Do you know what I mean? The space was perfectly designed for large groups; there's a long dining table, and three (3) living rooms which huge leather and wooden couches, and bean bags. What I noticed is that they were able to adapt to the season, too. Christmas decorations were everywhere which added color and joy to our already blissful hearts.  <div class="pull-left">  </div> <div class="pull-right">  </div>  <div class="pull-left">  </div> <div class="pull-right">  </div>  After we've exhausted all the corners of the first floor, we hurried to the second floor where the bedrooms are. Before we could even reach our rooms, we were astonished by another unfailing attempt to create a space for relaxation. Another living area view that at one glance looked like a gallery on its own.  <div class="pull-left">  </div> <div class="pull-right">  </div> Whoever designed this place's interior is insanely great at her/his job. It never failed to spark a glow in my eyes. It felt like there was always something else in every corner of the house. And I was eager to document all of them.  <div class="pull-left">  </div> <div class="pull-right">  </div> <div class="pull-left">   </div> <div class="pull-right">   </div>  ___ #### The rooms The 15k our friend paid includes five bedrooms fully equipped with their own bathrooms. It's my first time seeing and using a bed with a pull-over.  The bedroom is a bit small but the view was never short of surprises.  All the three front rooms led to a long but narrow balcony facing the swimming pool side of the property. I didn't Google Chateau before coming but even if I did, the photos on the internet were nowhere near what my eyes saw. This balcony is perfect for early morning musings while you grab your coffee and book.  And yup, what an inviting view, really!  The two rooms facing the other side of the mountain had a great view, too.  ___ #### The kitchen Now, what's the use of having great living and dining areas and an amazing view of the mountains of Cebu when there's no kitchen, right? So I told Jelo to make sure there's a space for food preparation and lo and behold, there's a huge kitchen in the semi-basement part of the house and it's decent enough to prepare a feast for 12 people.  ___ I can see you're excited to know more about what happened during this very important weekend trip with my buddies, but I'm gonna stop right here, for now. Hey there Pat? This is amazing. I've never seen such a stunning place. I know Cebu is great but then, having a place like this there is almost unbelievable, the most astonishing is that infinity pool, look at that view. Infact I'm still left wondering how much you all paid for that place in USD plus how many days you spent. The bedroom is a beauty. Hey @josediccus! I could not agree more with the infinity pool being the highlight of this place. π Apologies I wasn't able to give the breakdown in USD. The rent for the house was around 300-400 USD. My friend paid for it, I wasn't able to get the exact figures. For the food, beverages and others (which I will share next time), we paid around 30-40$ each. There were twelve of us so that's around 300-400 USD, too. I always feel blessed whenever I'm reminded I have these people through life's ups and downs. Travel for you is just around the corner. Start somewhere near, there's always a new place to discover. It's a really nice house, would that be considered very expensive by Philippines standards? Btw, since Hive is so international, it might be a good idea to include an international rate so your readers get a better idea on the price. I had to google to find out it's about USD300.

It'd be nice to have a house like this, Pauline. π I'd say it's *expensive*. In 2019 we got a 100-150 Sq mtr condo unit and only paid half the price of Chateau. But considering what Chateau offers, I'd say it's worth the price. Yeees! I definitely forgot about that, I usually put USD conversion but forgot this time. We'll always keep that in mind. π
