오늘은 스팀잇의 Bandwidth Remaining라는 수치에 대해 설명 드리려고 합니다. 어제 활동을 많이 하다보니 댓글과 글이 써지지 않았습니다.

# Bandwidth Remaining란?

스팀의 청서[(bluepaper)](https://steem.io/steem-bluepaper.pdf)에서는 이렇게 말하고 있습니다.

>**Bandwidth Rate Limiting for Fee-less Operations**
Because the witnesses are paid entirely through the generation of new tokens, there is no need to charge users a fee for powering the blockchain. The only reason to charge a fee would be as a deterrent to prevent users from completing an unreasonable amount of transactions, which could potentially impact the performance of the blockchain.

Whenever users perform blockchain operations such as token transfers, posting content, and voting, it uses up a portion of their bandwidth. 청서의 내용을 본 결과 우리는 Bandwidth를 블록체인 연산에 대한 트래픽으로 이해하면 될 것 같습니다. 트래픽은 인터넷에서 주고 받는 정보의 양이라고 이해하시면 됩니다.(여기서는 블록체인에 대해서) 그러니까 너무 많은 트래픽을 제한하기 위해서 Bandwidth Remaining을 설정해둔 것이고 말그대로 Bandwidth Remaining는 '내가 스팀잇에서 활동할 수 있는 정보의 양'이 됩니다. 그러니까 내가 쓸 수 있는 트래픽을 다 쓰게 되면 한동안 아무런 활동도 하지 못하게 되는 것이죠.

나의 보팅파워와 보팅파워가 얼마 남았는지. 그리고 Bandwidth Remaining이 얼마나 남았는지 볼 수 있습니다. 사진에서 처럼 저는 3.7mb 중 3.6mb가 남아있습니다. 어제는 -55퍼였는데 말이죠. 여기서 정보를 확인하시고 Bandwidth Remaining이 얼마 남지 않았다면 잠깐 글도 정리하면서 스팀잇을 쉬는 것이 좋을 것 같습니다.

>외국 스티미언들의 글을 찾아보니 400mb이신 분이 -220퍼를 돌파하는 것도 있는 것을 보아 버그도 존재하는 것 같습니다.

**Bandwidth Remaining**이 무엇인지에 대해 알아봤습니다만 사실 저같은 뉴비가 아니면 이런 현상을 겪기 힘들 것 같습니다. 활동한지 1주일이 안되어서 아직 스팀파워업을 못했는데 보상이 들어오는데로 꼭 해야겠습니다.
