Today is Thursday, I went out in the afternoon with my brother to buy some groceries to complete the week's meal, we are good at managing scarce resources, so we managed to maximize the performance of everything we buy. The weather has been quite cool all day, even when there was sun and a clear sky, I think the temperature could not be considered hot.<br><br>
I have work pending to update a website, but the friend who has to send me the contents to upload them to the site and run the functional tests has not been contacted, it gives me the impression that the latest information may be delivered to me by mail hour, and they say 'hurry up', but I can't do much more. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to load 'Dummy Data' contents to run the tests and then replace the contents with the actual text and photos. Anywere, I have done it on other occasions, but there are clients who do not take very well to seeing content on their sites that they are not approving, which bothers me, because everything would be easier if they delivered the data early and these 'times dead' will be avoided.<br>+++

Hoy es jueves, salí en la tarde con mi hermano a comprar unos víveres para completar la comida de la semana, somos buenos administrando los recursos escasos, así que logramos estirar al máximo el rendimiento de todo lo que compramos. El clima ha estado todo el día bastante fresco, incluso cuando había sol y cielo despejado, creo la temperatura no podía considerarse calurosa.<br><br>
Tengo pendiente un trabajo de actualización de una web, pero el amigo que tiene que pasarme los contenidos para subirlos al sitio y correr las pruebas de funcionamiento no se ha comunicado, me da una impresión de que puede que me entreguen por correo la información a última hora y me pongan a correr, pero no puedo hacer mucho más, no estoy seguro de que sea buena idea cargar contenidos ‘Dummy Data’ para ejecutar las pruebas y luego reemplazar los contenidos por el texto y las fotos reales. En otras oportunidades lo he hecho, pero hay clientes que no se toman muy bien eso de ver contenidos en sus sitios que ellos no están aprobando, cosa que me molesta, porque todo sería más sencillo si entregaran la data temprano y se evitarán estos ‘tiempos muertos’.<br>

I suppose that what I already wrote in the two previous paragraphs explains how my day has been in personal matters, so (as I usually do in each Log entry) I would complement my brief review with comments on an ephemeris of #History that corresponds with the current day. Generally, I choose events that are international or personalities with international fame, but today I am going to deal with an event that is very close, national, and I would even say very local, because it is focused on a specific area of a particular city.<br><br>
Today, in 1961, the East's Park ( #Caracas, #Venezuela) was inaugurated during the presidency of Rómulo Betancourt, it was a work in which distinguished professionals in architecture, urbanism, botany and landscaping participated, such as: Roberto Burle Marx, Fernando Tábora, John Stoddart, Carlos Guinand Sandoz and Leandro Aristeguieta, among others.<br>+++

Supongo que lo que escribí ya en los dos párrafos anteriores explica como ha estado mi día en cuestiones personales, así que (tal como suelo hacer en cada registro de Bitácora) complementaría mi breve reseña con comentarios sobre una efemérides de la #Historia que se corresponda con el día actual. Generalmente, escojo efemérides que sean internacionales o de personalidades con una fama internacional, pero hoy voy a tratar una efemérides muy cercana, nacional e incluso diría que muy local, por estar focalizada en una zona específica de una ciudad en particular.<br><br>
Hoy, en 1961,se inauguró el Parque Del Este (Caracas, Venezuela) durante la presidencia de Rómulo Betancourt, fue una obra en la que participaron distinguidos profesionales de la arquitectura, el urbanismo, la botánica y el paisajismo, tales como: Roberto Burle Marx, Fernando Tábora, John Stoddart, Carlos Guinand Sandoz y Leandro Aristeguieta, entre otros.<br>

The location of #EastsPark is easy from the online maps that I know, in offline life, the park is an easy reference to locate and widely known, but, for reasons of precision (and also to joke with the extreme accuracy) it can be noted that the park is located at the coordinates 10°29′32″N 66°50′21″W. Yes, I know that giving that information is a bit strange, but I found it while writing today's note and wanted to share it.<br><br>
The park has a special place in my memory, I have memories of my childhood visiting this place several times, I remember its green spaces, its habitats for different types of animals, its terrarium for reptiles, its planetarium and its great Acoustic Shell Stage for events and shows. As a child we used to visit this park from time to time, I'm not sure about it, but I think it was mostly on some weekends and during vacations.<br>+++

La ubicación del #ParqueDelEste es sencilla desde los mapas en línea que conozco, en la vida fuera de línea, el parque constituye una referencia fácil de ubicar y de amplio conocimiento, pero, por cuestiones de precisión (y también para bromear con la extrema exactitud) se puede señalar que el parque se ubica en las coordenadas 10°29′32″N 66°50′21″O. Sí, sé que dar ese dato es un poco raro, pero es que lo encontré mientras escribía la nota de hoy y quería compartirlo.<br><br>
El parque tiene un lugar especial en mi memoria, tengo recuerdos de mi infancia visitando este lugar varias veces, recuerdo sus espacios verdes, sus habitad de distintos tipos de animales, su terrario para reptiles, su planetario y su gran Concha Acústica para eventos y espectáculos. De niño visitábamos este parque cada cierto tiempo, no lo tengo claro, pero creo que era más que todo en algunos fines de semana y durante las vacaciones.<br>

The park brings back memories. By the way, its name has changed several times since its inauguration, but in general when we say East's Park ('Parque del Este' in #spanish) in Caracas it is easy for any local staff to locate you and tell you how to get there, either by underground or surface transportation in buses or taxis. Initially, I think the name included a tribute to the writer and former Venezuelan president Rómulo Gallegos, in 1983 it was renamed in honor of the late former president Rómulo Betancourt, but then, with the advent of a government openly hostile to the memory and legacy of the political factions of both ex-presidents, the name was changed again in 2002, giving honor to a hero precursor of independence, in this case the name of Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda was added.<br> <br>
However, for most of us who visited the #park, it was always the same East's Park, regardless of the name changes, mostly due to political disputes and diatribes that did not contribute anything good to the enjoyment of the green space in the midst of the city.<br><br>
I have not visited this park for a long time, even several years before the pandemic, I have read news in recent years that it has serious problems of personal insecurity and crime, but musical acts and events of different kinds are still held in its spaces. I would actually like to visit it again, partly to see how it is and partly to refresh my memories.<br><br>
Well, this would be all in the record of my day today, I wish you that you are well and that we can read each other again another time.<br>+++

El parque me trae recuerdos. Por cierto, que su nombre ha cambiado varias veces desde su inauguración, pero en general cuando decimos en Caracas ‘Parque del Este’ es fácil que cualquier personal local se pueda ubicar y decirte como llegar, ya sea en transporte subterráneo o en transporte superficial, en autobuses o taxis. Al inicio, creo que el nombre incluía un homenaje al escritor y ex-presidente venezolano Rómulo Gallegos, en 1983 se le cambió el nombre en honor del difunto ex-presidente Rómulo Betancourt, pero luego, con el advenimiento de un gobierno abiertamente hostil a la memoria y legado de las facciones políticas de ambos ex-presidentes, se le cambió de nuevo el nombre en 2002, dando el honor a un prócer precursor de la independencia, en este caso se agregó el nombre de Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda.<br><br>
Sin embargo, para la mayoría de los que visitábamos el parque, era siempre el mismo Parque del Este, sin importarnos los cambios de nombre, más que todo debidos a pugnas políticas y a diatribas que no aportaban nada bueno al disfrute del espacio verde en medio de la ciudad.<br><br>
Tengo mucho tiempo que no visito este parque, incluso varios años antes de la pandemia, he leído noticias en años recientes de que tiene serios problemas de inseguridad personal y delincuencia, pero aún se realizan actos musicales y eventos de distintos tipos en sus espacios. En realidad me gustaría visitarlo de nuevo, en parte para ver como está y en parte para refrescar los recuerdos.<br><br>
Bien, esto sería todo en el registro de mi día de hoy, te deseo que tú estés bien y que nos podamos leer de nuevo en otra oportunidad.<br>
