Sunday is ending, night has begun, and I have had a good day, calm and with minor work at home. Because my work schedules are more active at night and in the early morning, I am having the situation of having my sleeping and waking hours disordered, that can cause long-term problems, so I must take things easy and try to sleep more at night This sleep pattern is something that is associated with the development of degenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease, a disease of which we have a close family history at home, and I would not want that situation to occur to me.<br><br>
By the way, we are already on day 989 of the count of days since the #Quarantine was announced in #Venezuela due to the #COVID-19 #pandemic. Personal count numbers turn out to be a paltry figure, I always find that interesting, but I have little to add other than the simple fact that it can be read as equal in value from either end of the number. There are just over 30 days left until the end of the year.<br>+++

El domingo está terminando, ha comenzado la noche y he tenido un buen día, calmado y con trabajo menor en casa. Debido a que mis horarios de trabajo están más activos durante la noche y las madrugadas, estoy teniendo la situación de tener desordenadas mis horas de sueño y vigilia, eso puede dar problemas a largo lazo, así que debo tomarme las cosas con calma y procurar dormir más de noche. Este patrón de sueño es algo que se asocia con el desarrollo de enfermedades degenerativas como el Mal de Parkinson, enfermedad de la que tenemos un antecedente familiar cercano en casa, y no me gustaría que se me presentara a mí esa situación.<br><br>
Por cierto, ya estamos en el día 989 del conteo de días desde que en #Venezuela se anunció la #Cuarentena por la #pandemia de #Covid19. Los números del conteo personal resultan ser una cifra capicúa, es siempre lo encuentro interesante, pero tengo poco que agregar fuera del hecho simple de que se puede leer de igual valor desde cualquier extremo que se lea la cifra. Quedan poco más de 30 días para que termine el año.<br>

As I usually do for this record, I checked the calendar and the ephemeris of #History to find out what was celebrated today, among all the things I found a commemoration that was in the Catholic saints, but that brought back family memories and that's why I chose her: Today is the day of the Virgin of the Miraculous Medal. This Marian invocation has its origin in the visions of a Vincentian Nun, who on November 27, 1830, witnessed the apparition before her, receiving a message that entrusted her to translate the vision into a votive medal, which would be made according to the indications given for the appearance. After managing to do so and presenting the medal to his superiors, he achieved acceptance and the image became popular. After his death, the sister who stars in this story, Sister Catalina, was elevated to the altars as Santa Catalina Labouré.<br><br>
The family reason that I mentioned for choosing this story has to do with my paternal grandmother, the grandmother who raised me and my close siblings, she was a very believing and quite practicing Catholic, the type of person who organized fund-raising events, food for people in need, who organized religious festivals in her community, the woman who opened her house to invite a priest to give Mass for the people, because the churches and chapels were many kilometers away, and it was normal for people to did not go to mass frequently, but only went to specific ceremonies, such as a baptism, a wedding or a mass for the dead.<br>+++

Tal como suelo hacer para este registro, revisé en el calendario y las efemérides de la #Historia para saber qué se celebraba hoy, de entre todas las cosas encontré una conmemoración que estaba en el santoral católico, pero que me trajo recuerdos familiares y por eso la elegí: Hoy es día de la Virgen de la Medalla Milagrosa. Esta advocación mariana tiene su origen en las visiones de una monja vicentina, que el 27 de noviembre de 1830, presenció la aparición ante ella, recibiendo un mensaje que le encomendaba a plasmar la visión en una medalla votiva, que se haría según las indicaciones dadas por la aparición. Luego de lograr hacerlo y presentar la medalla a sus superiores, logró la aceptación y se popularizó la imagen, después de su muerte, la hermana que protagoniza esta historia, Sor Catalina, fue elevada a los altares como Santa Catalina Labouré.<br><br>
El motivo familiar que comenté para escoger esta historia, tiene que ver con mi abuela paterna, la abuela que nos crio a mí y mis hermanos cercanos, ella era una católica muy creyente y bastante practicante, del tipo de persona que organizaba eventos de acopio de alimentos para gente necesitada, que organizaba las fiestas religiosas de su comunidad, la mujer que abría su casa para invitar a un sacerdote a dar la Misa para la gente, porque las iglesias y capillas estaban a muchos kilómetros de distancia y era normal que la gente no fuera a misa con frecuencia, sino que solamente se iba a ceremonias específicas, como un bautizo, una boda o una misa de difuntos.<br>

As I told, my grandmother was a woman of practicing faith, she worked, preached in her own way and believed in her creed. That is much more than I can say about too many people of very different #religions, I myself feel like a strange case with respect to it, since I am rather little practicing and even a little atheist due to my professional training.<br> <br>
I found out about this religious medal through my grandmother, she bought a lot and gave it away, she loved the Marian image, in addition to the fact that she really liked the simple and short prayer that was written on the edge of the medal, which indicates that it was dictated by the appearance of the Virgin Mary at the time of delivering the instructions. The prayer was: "O sinless Mary conceived, pray for us who have recourse to you."<br>+++

Como contaba, mi abuela era una mujer de fe practicante, trabajaba, predicaba a su manera y creía en su credo. Eso es mucho más de lo que puedo decir de demasiada gente de muy distintas #religiones, yo mismo me siento como una caso extraño con respecto a ella, pues yo más bien soy poco practicante e incluso un poco ateísta por mi formación profesional.<br><br>
Yo conocí esta medalla religiosa por mi abuela, ella compró un lote y las regaló, le encantaba la imagen mariana, además de que le gustaba mucho la simple y corta oración que estaba escrita en el borde de la medalla, que se indica que fue dictada por la aparición de la Virgen María al momento de entregar las instrucciones. La oración era: "Oh, María sin pecado concebida, ruega por nosotros que recurrimos a vos".<br>

Aunque por la fecha de la que hablamos, sospecho que fue originalmente en latín, así que sería algo como <i>"O Maria sine peccato concepta, ora pro nobis ad te convertentibus"</i>. En todo caso, me gusta la versión en español que me enseñó la abuela cuando yo era niño, era corta, simple y directa.<br><br>
