Today is a day of a Marian dedication that is very followed in my country. I am going to give a few brief words of the day first, and then I will fully explain the ephemeris of the #History that was selected for today's registration.<br><br>
Finally, today Friday, it was when I went shopping, it rained in the morning, and we went shopping after noon, but when we left with the bags it started to rain again, and we got a little wet, I really hope we don't catch the flu or something similar. We are 980 days after the #Quarantine was declared in #Venezuela due to the #COVID-19 #pandemic, but there is no official statement that the measure will be lifted, however, only my brother and I were the ones who were wearing face masks where we were shopping, it already seems like a lot of people are ignoring security measures.<br>+++

Hoy es un día de una advocación mariana que es muy seguida en mi país. Voy a dar primero unas breves palabras del día y luego si entro de lleno a explicar la efemérides de la #Historia que fue seleccionada para el registro de hoy.<br><br>
Finalmente, hoy viernes, fue que salí a comprar, llovió en la mañana y salimos de compras luego del mediodía, pero al salir con las bolsas comenzó a llover de nuevo y nos mojamos un poco, deseo que de verdad no agarremos gripe o algo parecido. Estamos a 980 días desde que en #Venezuela se declaró la #Cuarentena por la #pandemia de #Covid19, pero no hay declaración oficial de que se levante la medida, sin embargo, solamente mi hermano y yo éramos los que estábamos con tapabocas en donde estábamos comprando, ya parece que mucha gente no hace caso de las medidas de seguridad.<br>

Well, the topic of today's post is about a traditional #religious festival in the west of my country and that marks to a certain extent the traditional beginning of Christmas concerts, at least concerts that have Zulian bagpipe music. Today is celebrated in Venezuela the Day of the Virgin of Chiquinquirá, this virgin of #Catholicism is also the Patroness of Colombia, our neighboring nation and sister along our western border.<br><br>
In fact, it is very interesting that the devotion in #Colombia can trace its roots to 1560, being inspired by the Virgin of the Rosary (another Marian dedication); while the devotion in Zulia, a Venezuelan state where the Basilica of Our Lady of Chiquinquirá (City of Maracaibo) is located, marks its beginning with the appearance of the image of the Virgin on a table collected by a woman from the waters of the Lake Maracaibo (the largest natural lake in South America) and that would happen in 1709.<br><br>
In any case, devotion to the #VirgenOfChiquinquira is among the largest among the Catholic parishioners in Venezuela, and its cultural and social value has been disseminated through songs, verses, poems and various manifestations. I must comment that the virgin itself has been nicknamed 'La Chinita' since its inception, due to the peculiarity that in Maracaibo at that time (and even today) people from indigenous factions used to be nicknamed 'Chinese'.<br>+++

Bien, el tema de la publicación de hoy es sobre una fiesta religiosa tradicional en el occidente de mi país y que marca en cierta medida el inicio tradicional de los conciertos navideños, al menos de los conciertos que tienen música de gaita zuliana. Hoy se celebra en Venezuela el Día de la Virgen de la Chiquinquirá, esta virgen del catolicismo es también la Patrona de Colombia, nuestra nación vecina y hermana por nuestra frontera occidental.<br><br>
De hecho, es bien interesante que la devoción en #Colombia puede marcar sus raíces en 1560, siendo inspirada en la Virgen del Rosario (otra advocación mariana); mientras que la devoción en el Zulia, estado Venezolano en donde se encuentra la Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Chiquinquirá (Ciudad de Maracaibo), marca su inicio con la aparición de la imagen de la Virgen en una tabla recogida por una mujer de las aguas del Lago de Maracaibo (el lago natural más grande de América del sur) y eso ocurriría en 1709.<br><br>
En todo caso, la devoción por la #VirgenDeLaChiquinquira se cuenta entre las mayores de la feligresía católica de Venezuela, y su valor cultural y social se ha difundido por canciones, versos, poemas y diversas manifestaciones. Debo comentar que la virgen en sí, tiene desde sus inicios el apodo de ‘La Chinita’, por la particularidad de que en el Maracaibo de ese entonces (y aun en la actualidad) se solía apodar a las personas de facciones indígenas como ‘Chinos’.<br>

Bueno, hay que recordar que ya desde la llegada de Colón, la idea de los Europeos occidentales al llegar a esta tierra era encontrar una ruta a la India y a China, así que una cosa llevó a otra, y el apodo se quedó en uso por los siglos de los siglos.<br><br>
Yo tengo tiempo que no estoy en un evento religioso de grandes multitudes, supongo que mi carácter tiene mucho que ver en eso. Pero si me gusta escuchar algunas de las #musicas tradicionales entonadas para esta advocación, porque son parte del ambiente festivo navideño que me lleva de regreso a los recuerdos de mi infancia, tal como pasa con una gaita que es ‘El Himno de los Gaiteros', la canción compuesta por ‘El Monumental’ Ricardo Aguirre: “La Grey Zuliana”<br>
