#### The Troubles in Northern Ireland blew up, terrorists vied for first place at the Munich Olympics, strikes bought Britain to a state of emergency.<br><br>

In the USA Watergate became a word, in Africa Idi Amin expelled the British Asians, and in the cold north seas the second Cod War broke out between Britain and Iceland.

On the music scene Pink Floyd saw the Dark Side of the Moon, while The New Seekers wanted to teach the world to sing - long before Coca Cola got in on the act.

1972 saw my family take one more step up the holidays abroad ladder. This year we headed to the Algarve in Portugal where we stayed in a villa. As the Welsh would say, "there's posh isn't it". We are jet-setters now...

That holiday was captured again by my father on his Standard 8 cine camera.
