I've got to get this off my chest because it's making me a bit sour and I need to move on from it.
## Intro
On July 3rd I felt like I needed to finally make a post [introducing myself](https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@pfunk/hey-steemit-a-belated-introduction-to-pfunk) before the fork. After a few hours I was very happy to see that many people had voted for it, bringing the Steemit-displayed payout to over $1660 the last I saw it before the fork happened. I left that evening for a friend's house for an early Independence Day cookout and fireworks. When I came back I found the fork had happened and the payout for the post was just under $600 total value. 

## Ouch

I was pretty confused and upset, but also tired and I decided not to talk about it in the Slack much until I knew my head would be cooler about it. Yesterday I brought it up privately with Dan, who is responsible for most of the code, and he couldn't offer an explanation either. Lacking a screenshot of the post from the evening of July 3rd I don't blame him for being skeptical of what I saw, and he didn't sound very motivated to look into it further.

## Unhappy?
I expect some readers might be thinking that I should be happy with what I got, and yes, almost $600 in value (between Steem Dollars and Steem Power) is a nice reward for introducing myself. What is bothersome is, the people that voted for me put those votes in during the initial funding period that ended at 00:00:00, July 4th. The votes happened before the fork, Steemit displayed the post value as coming from the initial funding pool, and by common sense they should have come from that pool, but somehow either those some of those votes got ignored or they were paid out from the daily pool of the next 24 hours, significantly reducing the value.

## Others
**My post can't be the only one affected by this.** Other people must have been short-changed from their post value too, so that gives me extra reason to bring this up.

## Value

A post's value is entirely subjective, but Steem is supposed to pay out according to stake-weighted votes, not this or that person's opinion. I saw the post value grow from the $0.04 from my own automatic self-vote after posting it to $1660 before I left for my friend's for the evening. People who saw the post at 0.04, 1660, and probably beyond and then went on to upvote it didn't feel like it was overvalued. In fact the post had 0 downvotes and 68 upvotes by midnight. If you go to the [steemd.com](https://steemd.com/introduceyourself/@pfunk/hey-steemit-a-belated-introduction-to-pfunk), click advanced mode in the upper right then vote details in the lower right of the post box, you can see this.

## Catharsis

That's it, I feel like I lost a lot of Steem Power and SD because of unintended behavior in the Steem blockchain. Bitching about it won't give that back to me, but maybe it'll cathartically  help remove this sour taste from my mouth.

If you made a post on July 3rd or perhaps had one that was voted on a lot on that day (delaying the payout to after midnight) and also noticed a large depreciation from the value displayed, post a comment about it. And I know that by explicitly stating the last value I saw it at, any testimony is not really helpful but if you happen to remember seeing the post's value way higher than $600 I would appreciate a comment, and would especially appreciate a screenshot or video you took on July 3rd within the last few hours of the fork.
