Since Cain killed his brother Abel, as the Bible explains, a curse fell upon humanity: **Wars**
And together with wars, the humanity had do deal with all elements which other elements such strikes, weapons, strategies and, of course:
<center>defenses.</center>
When archaeologists and paleontologists search for - carved - stones, canine teeth, pleistocene molars or hominid skulls and instead of that, they find inexplicable monuments - which are generally built using large, heavy stones - they generally find a logical explanation using the Mith of the *homo builder'*s religious character".
It happened with the stone circles of Stonehenge in Wiltshire (England) - the world's most famous megalithic monument,
<center><img src="https://img1.steemit.com/0x0/https://s13.postimg.org/g65cmf707/1_2.png" /></center>
but also the The Dolmen of Menga in Antequera (Malaga, Spain) or one of the latest, still unnamed, archeolochical findings in Carmona (Sevilla, Spain) which has been discovered by german research staff of the University of Tübingen:
<p><center><img src="https://img1.steemit.com/0x0/https://s13.postimg.org/vqcqcyh4n/1_1.png" /></center>
It is normal that the human groups that built them did not have much time to think of anything but their own subsistence and propagation of their own species, for which they would have to keep their females and their offspring in safe places.
Thousand years ago, the lands around Stonehenge or Carmona had plenty of wood to build beams that could be used to cover such constructions with soil leaving only safe unnoticeable holes as entries or exits.
500 years ago, the riverbanks of the "Tajo" in Toledo (Spain) were lush forests of huge trees. Garcilaso de la Vega, the famous Spanish writer, was himself a contemporary eyewitness and told us so repeatedly.
Building the Derinkuyu underground cities in today´s central Turkey would have been even more difficult and laborious than building the defenses of Stonehenge. These cities were carved into the rock up to eleven superimposed floors reaching some unsuspected depths down into almost *incandescent magma* - the leyend says.

May be some devotee, hidden somewhere in the deep fearing the enemy, could have lifted an altar to the gods for supplications and prayers, but the primary purpose of these buildings, like all of them, is of guard and defense.
<center>*Nobody has even refer before to the underground cities of Derinkuyu as temples of worship*</center>
It is of common sense not to think about philosophical and theological contemplation reasons but about defense against enemy tribes
What will we think about the walls of Astorga (North Spain) within four or five thousand years from now, which were definitely built by the Romans for the same purpose of guard and defense?
<center></center>
A future university expert may think that the cubes of the wall could have been used for sacrifices to the gods in the 20th century. He can also imagine vestal torchlight keeping the virginity of "maragatas" (pubescent girls from Astorga) - to give a more attractive touch -, while the high priest, looking at the Teleno mountain sang hymns to the sound of trumpets made from horns of cows. And all, because he found next to the crumbling stones one *"jaba"* - the horn used as a hub for sharpening stones of the 10th century.
<center>*The reality is that the walls of Astorga were built to defend the city against enemies and the horn was a simple vessel for daily use.*</center>
Luckily no one has been tempted to say that the Underground cities of Derinkuyu were object of worship, faith and religion, but i`m sure some future *"expert"* will be tempted to achieve notoriety and mystery.

Jesús explicitly told me to translate it into english to let it reach a wider audience.
I actually spent a couple of hours today to translate it. It is not as beautifully writen as the spanish original but it gives you a good sense of the content.
The rewards, if any, will be partially transferred to his account [@jgcastrillo19](https://steemit.com/@jgcastrillo19) and therefore support the spanish authoring community in steemit.
