Hive Proposals .:. Hive Humpday Hangout Ep.27 (Wednesday, July 17, 4 PM UTC)
If you are a Splinterlands player (or not), you have probably heard about the upcoming proposal from the SPL team where they would like to raise money for future developments in the game by getting funds from the DHF (Decentralized Hive Fund)... Even if you are not a Splinterlands player, you should know more about DHF, how it works, what are pros and cons, and how the fund affects you and your Hive journey... 

As HIVE doesn't have a centralized figure, in some way, every Hivian is responsible for his action on HIVE as they can (and ARE) influence others too... That's why you heard many times from this account that we have to take RESPONSIBILITY more seriously than we do in a "centralized" system where we aren't asked too much... The first step toward that is to UNDERSTAND how things work, understand the pros and cons, be aware of the consequences of our actions, and then make a decision(s)...

Similarly to witness voting, those who have the biggest stake (HivePower) have the biggest vote value on proposals... Also, there is no downvoting on proposals (maybe it should be?), but there are ways how you can support a better decentralization of the DHF, and we will talk about that too... As I don't know everything, I hope that you will actively participate in the discussion during the show and share your view and understanding of the Proposal system on HIVE!

Another important thing regarding Hive Proposals is that the system isn't flawless (as nothing else is), but it shows the path how a decentralized system should work... In the last day or two, you could see some nasty comments, a lot of bitterness, anger, etc. As like with any other "voting" there will be people that are happy with the result and those who aren't... In the end, we should accept all the good and bad things that come with decentralization... Even if we disagree with something, we should accept the decision made by the majority, or by the biggest HIVE stakers...

Again, as HIVE is a decentralized system, we shouldn't forget that nothing is set in stone and that everything can change, even the rules for Hive Proposals, or the whole DHF system, or anything else... To change things, you should start the dialogue... Our main tool in a decentralized system...

Anyway, we will try to explain some main things about Hive Proposals, like how they work, what is a DHF, what is a Return proposal, how the voting goes, how to create a proposal, etc.

While I would like to keep the conversation more at the basics and "how it works", I am aware that we will probably digress and move into discussing certain proposals... That is also fine and we can do it in the second part of the show, or if we stay out of time, we can do it in the after-show... There is nothing wrong with expressing your opinion about certain proposals, positive or negative... As a matter of fact, I would say that it is healthy to do it for the person who does that, and for other listeners who maybe have an opposite opinion... We should learn to accept other's opinions as it shows that we are mature enough to embrace decentralization and different point of view...

I feel that if there's a downvote button for proposals, it might be healthy but then it'll be chaotic. Expressing one's actions towards the DHF and how it's been done is important, I mean, we're decentralized afterall. 
As for splinterlands, I think the proposal will pass and it's good too. Good explanation with how the DHF works

That's an interesting topic for discussion. I would say that ATM the Return Proposal limit is very low, which means that with 2-3 whales voting FOR can push through any proposal... We need a higher Return Proposal, or maybe a downvote on them... btw... as the HIVE market cap is lower with this low price, 500K USD additional pressure is significant... 

After checking the comment section, it looks like the show will go way out of the main idea about Hive Proposals, how they work, etc... πŸ˜‚

Honestly, I've heard about the SPL proposal in X... I'm on dozens of Discord servers and I haven't read anything about it on any of them. The dialogue (and the information about what's happening behind the curtains) you comment on is non-existent at the moment and it is sad because I agree with your opinion, the only way to move forward together is to respect contrary opinions. Within Hive your publication is the first to name it, so I hope to know more in a few hours at the show.
