<p>Hello fellow Steemians!</p>
<p>I'm back with another recipe and can I just say that I was SO excited to share this one with you guys. Anyone who's been reading my posts should know that I'm not a fan of overly complex cooking - not because I can't appreciate it but because I'm just not that skilled myself and also I don't have much time during the week to cook. Often I post quite simple recipes but using quality ingredients that really pack a punch.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Today's recipe definitely ticks those boxes. I made these for the first time and I had them on the table in about 45 minutes - no joke and they looked beautiful (if I do say so myself hehe). I honestly think anything with pastry will look great because who can resist the golden, flaky pastry that makes your house smell like a buttery bakery? Haha, sorry I am still drooling now as I write this but just take a look...</p>

<p>Not sure what it is, but here in Australia we love our "sausage rolls". At any sporting event whether it be football, tennis, swimming or whatever I guarantee you'll always find a canteen selling sausage rolls and meat pies. They're easy to eat, delicious and let you focus on the game whilst enjoying a tasty treat! I'm definitely looking to share my recipe for Aussie meat pies shortly as well so keep an eye out :)&nbsp;</p>
<p>Anyway, let's get onto the recipe!</p>
<p><strong>1.</strong> Assemble the ingredients, I actually had all of this at home already except for the ricotta which was easy enough to buy! Any supermarket will have this.</p>

<p><strong>2.</strong> Thaw and then wring out the spinach to remove excess liquid</p>

<p><strong>3.</strong> Chuck all the filling ingredients into a mixing bowl and combine! (It's a GIF, let it load hehe) - also sorry my arm was casting a shadow, I didn't realise until after =(</p>

<p><strong>4.</strong> Lay out the pastry and spread the mixture in the centre</p>

<p><strong>5.</strong> Roll them up&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>6.</strong> Cut them into quarters (or whatever size you like) and then brush with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.</p>

<p><strong>7.</strong> 20-25 mins in the oven and .... *drum roll*</p>

<p>(note that it actually made 24 but we had about 8 before they had even cooled down...)</p>

<p>These went so quickly, I had to physically put them away in a box and walk into a different room otherwise I am sure I would have eaten nearly all of them!! They were so addictive, I think it was the combination of flaky, buttery pastry and the insides which were cheesy, gooey, but not too rich as we had just used ricotta which is a fairly light cheese with a bit of parmesan and tasty (which is a type we sell in Australia similar to cheddar). Not to mention it had spinach so it was quite a 'light' tasting pastry treat.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I highly recommend you try these. I'm actually planning on doing a proper "Aussie" sausage roll recipe soon so keep an eye out!</p>

Delicious, and an excellent vegetable like spinach, Spinach has earned a place in the hearts of large and children by the effects that produced eating this plant in the Popeye caricature, The nutritional value of spinach indicates that it is a very rich in nutrients. Wow thank you for that very informative post. Yes I love spinach but sadly I don't use it as often as I should. It's definitely low in calories, but probably the only thing in this recipe that's low in calories ;) Thanks for your thoughts and taking the time to comment on my post!

I know right?? Cannot go wrong with spinach and ricotta. I was actually tempted to make the Greek favourite of spanakopita as it uses sort of similar ingredients (minus the tasty cheese and parmesan) wrapped in filo pastry instead, but this looked so easy and I had everything already at home. Give it a go! :)

Thanks! I'm really pleased with how the pictures turned out, I never know until I've looked at them and by then it's too late to fix if it's no good lol but got lucky this time :). Haha yes...well you didn't see them in the photos, but we had it with both ketchup and chilli sauce - delicious!
