Sure, with some posts rewards and no cost for anything besides a small server there's no need to power down. Who doesn't love to have more steem.

I do spend significant amounts of time (>11k posts and comments) engaging with the community to better understand what they need, what they don't understand, and what they want more education about. I think that's valuable and worth rewarding. As this is a social blockchain powering social applications, I'd prefer all top witnesses be more social as well as technical.

That said, I appreciate your point and am considering running a full node which would clearly require more powering down.

I didn't intend to talk down your contributions, just question the reasoning that not powering down would be a good quality for witnesses. Personally I prefer parts of the enormously high pay be put back into projects than piling up in a private piggy bank.

Thanks. I think, at the very least, witnesses should consider delegating their Steem Power to projects which help the ecosystem, which I've been doing for a while. I also think, given a witness who powers down to sell STEEM for personal gain outside of their witness expenses and one who doesn't, I'd prefer the one who doesn't. I'm not sure we need 20 full API nodes (maybe we do?), but if not, I'd certainly consider funding the expenses of existing projects, if they needed it.
