I want to run a little writing-contest. The writing idea can be found [here](https://peakd.com/fiction/@pibara/idea-for-a-fun-little-creative-coin-writing-contest) The idea is to write a story on the morel dilemmas involved with a huge descission after an intergalactic message. In order to save the universe from vacuum-decay, a universe teeming with life, humanity is asked to destroy itself and all life in our galaxy (and a small group of other galaxies). Because, here is the thing, what we believe to be our universe, created by a big bang, is actually the inside of an expanding Higgs bubble. A Higgs bubble that is changing the constants that make up the laws of nature from a universe filled with life, to a universe with only a few small oases of life like our home planet. The price the winner of the contest should be able to win is a delegation of 100,000 #creativecoin CCC till the end of the year. I would really like to make this a Hive Book Club contest too. How, I'm not really sure of. I could just do the contest and pick the winner, but I think it would be really cool to let the Hive Book Club community pick the winner instead. Book lovers are far better at judging fiction than I as an author could ever hope to be. Writers tend to get caught up in details of the trade so much that we overlook the raw diamonds that readers spot instantly. But how do I let you guys pick a winner? I'm not quite sure. So if as a fiction lover you like this idea of judging a writing contest like this, and you have ideas how we could set this up, please let me know. Ideas on getting contestants are also welcome, or how much time to allocate for writing, judging, etc, are also very much welcome. The 100,000 CCC delegation is currently all I have to work with, but if its needed to split it up somehow between authors and judges, that might also be an option. Please let me know what you guys think.

Hello @pibara! You have an interesting idea for a writing contest and the prize is not bad for a start. I have read through and honestly, I don't understand what the story idea is all about. Intergalactic message? Vaccum decay? I think there's a mix up in the translation. Can you elaborate more on this? 🙂

To understand the idea, its a bit of science and a whole lot of fiction regarding the concept of the [Higgs field](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joTKd5j3mzk). One subject important for Higgs fields is the concept of the vacuum state of the Higgs field. It is theorized that the Higgs field might be in a so-called false vacuum that might *decay* into *true* vacuum in [vacuum decay](https://www.reddit.com/r/Physics/comments/58pyqo/kurzgesagts_latest_video_is_about_the/). Vacuum decay would result in a so-called Higgs Bubble, a growing bubble that would destroy the universe. That is the science part of it. The fiction part is: What if there is already a Higgs bubble destroying the universe? But not destroying it completely. What if *we*, and our little part of the universe is *what is left* inside of the expanding Higgs bubble? What our galaxy and the other galaxies inside of the Higgs bubble each only has a hand full of life-supporting planets, while the galaxies outside of the bubble are teeming with life? Another part of science: Today, we believe the universe was created in a big bang, for a great part because of background radiation. In the fiction, this background radiation is caused by the frontier edge of the expanding Higgs bubble. The idea for the contest is that we receive/detect a message within the background radiation. According to all models, the message would have been sent *before* the start of the universe. After the message has been decoded, we discover the reality of being on the inside of the Higgs bubble that is (kinda) destroying the universe. It is also discovered that the speed of light inside of the Higgs Buble is faster than on the outside. Scientists discover it is possible to save the *real* universe by creating a higher-energy bubble from the inside of the Higgs bubble. Catch: This would kill every living being inside of the bubble, including humanity. The idea for the contest would be to, within this sci-fi context, to create a short story about the moral dilemma of the choice between the faith of the universe and the faith of the human race. Should the human race collectively commit suicide in order to save the universe with billions and billions of alien races?

I have read the info. about the Higgs Bubble idea, the false vacuum decay and all, and this still seems beyond me, lol. I am not an avid fiction reader, I only just got in. I am also trying to wrap my head around the topic of the contest. Still, I think Its an elaborate topic well enough to juggle the writers/readers imagination. First off, I think the first stage is setting up. Getting a concise and definitive topic, then deciding on what prices and of course the judging systems. Other logistics comes afterwards. I will be on standby of course. I will also like to call the fiction lovers @kemmyb and @notacinephile to check this out.
