Over the winter the Mercedes-Benz has been suffering from slow starting, which steadily got worse, now it had a new battery installed when it was restored back in March however in around nine months and it's already started failing, something is certainly afoot, maybe it's an old battery?

The car would stay charged literally for about three days meaning we had to boost it to start it or trickle charge  it frequently,  this wasn't feasible, we needed to source a new battery.

This latest video shows you how to fit a new battery in the W124 Mercedes, we also remove the battery tray and clean the area underneath.

The video went quite straight forward that was until it started to snow this meant we had to speed up what we were doing, however it was interesting to get back into making a video.

The pandemic certainly made its mark on our video production this year, and we're only halfway through January - last year we probably had about 20% of the cars that we had the year before and this year is looking to be similar meaning we have to think outside the box, mind you it does give us time to work on projects.

The W124 is one of the last cars made by Daimler-Benz meaning money was no object everything from seatbelt butlers through to climate control it was a rather advanced car for its time the model we have as you all know by now is called Dorothy and she's got 2.3 four-cylinder engine with a four speed automatic gearbox.

The battery change went to plan and as expected the car started first time as soon as we'd fitted it. It does make us wonder though how long this new battery will last, we're hoping that the old one was somewhat depleted when it was fitted.

This video was filmed a few days ago however today I went out and Dorothy and filmed a full driving section which I've been planning to fill the last 18 months but I kept putting it off and on last year just wasn't feasible.

I wanted to do a full review on the car for some time the press cars always take priority.

Another interesting thing that happened was when Michael's dad was looking through some of the paperwork at the farm he found the V5 that had gone missing, as well as the rest of the service history meaning the MOT's, this was a nice surprise and we now have a full service history including sales receipt from where the car was bought.

Plans for the Mercedes this year are sorting out the front shock absorber and spring seeing why it sits so low and tidying up the arches.
