Camping by the Sea

The summer is here! Or well, at least here in the Netherlands it is. I feel like a caterpillar that has been inside a cocoon for most of this pandemic but now I have emerged like a beautiful butterfly and can enjoy outside again! So I decided: why spend the weekend on the couch if you can also spend it on an adventure?

#### The road
I decided half the adventure is getting to your destination so why not cycle there, test out my new saddlebags and enjoy the sun a bit?

So I loaded up my bike with camping gear and an orange shirt to support the football. I just got these shiny new bags and wanted to test them out. I have to say it wasn't as heavy as I thought it was going to be!
We ended up going for a ride if about 50km through the dunes of the Netherlands. If you ever find yourself around I would recommend cycling this route as its really nice and only bikes so no cars!

#### camping
In the afternoon we got to the campsite. We picked a so-called 'nature campsite' without caravans and with more trees around for shade. It was great to be camping again, I love camping! The hilarious thing was just after we arrived we ran into a friend who also happened to be there that weekend, what are the chances! So we pitched our tent and decided to drink a nice glass of rose to celebrate our lucky encounter

#### The Sea
Our trip of course would not be complete without a visit to the sea, but life can't be all roses and we quickly turned around when we stuck our feet in the sea and realized there were hundreds of jellyfish. Luckily we didn't get stung, but the high tide had pushed all the jellyfish to shore. Luckily after our super short mini visit to the sea we did get a to see a deer that was kind enough to hold still while I took a picture!

Today we peddled back home and I must say that this weekend has given me so much energy. I guess what I want to say is we all get tired from our busy working week and social lives, but instead of sitting on the couch to recharge, it can be so nice sometimes to go into nature, put the phone away and really recharge.
