Hi my name is Pauline and this is a blog about Mother Dearest and her journey with Alzheimers. Mother and i were estranged for some years due to her bigoted nature and my being homosexual, but i couldn't in good conscience leave it all to my Sister.
        So a little about Mother Dearest before the dementia. Where to begin.......a few word's used to describe her, vile, aggressive, judgemental,billy no mates,non-maternal, argumentative.......you get the gist.  
She lost her husband in 2007 and after threatening suicide(cos he was her world......sod the 2 kids she had)she made a new friend which didn't last long because of her caustic nature.Dee(my sister) and i decided to buy her a best mate(yes that's right we had to pay someone to be in her company).
It all started in 2013 (so it has progressed rapidly) with her being more than a little forgetful and then driving the wrong way round a roundabout (not that she was ever a good driver), all the while insisting she was fine and able to look after herself.
 After much persuasion and lot's of arguing we (my Sister and i) managed to get her to the GP who referred her to the memory clinic, where she was prescribed Donenzepil (a drug to slow down the effects of dementia).
   After that i involved adult services, had her assessed and got carer's in 3 times a day............the start of a new battle :) .  At first she would not let them in and when she did she was aggressive and abusive towards them. One day she stood in front of one of them blowing her nose on a £10 note insisting she didn't need any help..........unbeliveable!!!!!!  
      Coleen (Mother's new bestie)  was a god send but i couldn't have done her job for ANY amount of money......here's why. She took Mother Dearest bra shopping took her eye off her for a second and Mother was out of the changing room TOPLESS!! On another occassion she pushed and verbally abused an old man in B&M for queue jumping,  makes racist and derogatory remarks loud enough for all to hear.
   Anyway that's it for now.........to be continued.  I have started this blog as a stress reliever to help me to continue to support my Sister.........Thanks for reading
