Hola a todos, cómo se encuentran? Hace unas pocas semanas la compañía farmacéutica Pfizer solicitó al gobierno estadounidense una aprobación para empezar a administrar una tercera dosis de su vacuna, con el objetivo de aumentar la inmunidad de los pacientes, y al mismo tiempo, prolongarla y maximizarla por un mayor período.

Pensando en lo anterior, las autoridades de Israel, uno de los países con mayor número de vacunados "per cápita", aprobaron hace pocos días una tercera dosis de la vacuna contra el coronavirus, siendo el primero en el mundo que hace esto. Aunque esta tercera inmunización solo será para los adultos inmunodeprimidos, principales pacientes susceptibles al virus.

Se ha recomendado recibir este tercer inóculo de la vacuna contra el coronavirus entre las cuatro y ocho semanas posteriores a la segunda dosis, cumpliéndose apropiadamente el objetivo de la misma, aumentar la respuesta del sistema inmune ante una ulterior infección por el patógeno.

Gran parte de las autoridades en el país oriental apoyaron unánimemente está medida ante la evidencia cada vez mayor de que los pacientes con sistema inmune afectado no logran desarrollar una cantidad óptima de anticuerpos, por lo que sería necesario aplicar una tercera dosis, para lograr una respuesta correcta y crear una inmunidad duradera.

A pesar de las medidas tomadas por el gobierno israelí y de la solicitud del laboratorio Pfizer para aplicar una tercera dosis, las autoridades sanitaria de Estados Unidos aún no la ven completamente necesaria, y en este momento está siendo estudiada por los diferentes organismos gubernamentales.

La CDC (Centro para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades) o la tan conocida FDA (Administración de Alimentos y Fármacos) no ven aún necesaria una tercera dosis de la vacuna, ya que en un porcentaje cercano al 100%, las personas están protegidas de la enfermedad grave y la muerte. Los vacunados también han demostrado estar protegidos contra las diferentes variantes que han surgido durante los último meses, incluyendo la Delta, o "la variante de la India", la más contagiosa y preocupante, hasta los momentos.

Además aseguran que ambos institutos no están en contra de una tercera dosis, por lo que evalúan rigurosamente todos los datos posibles para poder llegar a una conclusión final, y en caso de que está sea necesaria, quieren saber mediante el método científico, que pacientes son los que necesitan este refuerzo y cuando lo deberían aplicar.

Lo cierto es que los estudios actuales no arrojan ningún dato significativo o que preocupe a los investigadores, por lo que es necesario realizar nuevos con otras variables, principalmente evaluar cómo evoluciona la inmunidad a lo largo del tiempo, y de igual forma está preparados ante la irrupción de una nueva cepa.

Por los momentos la situación de Israel es bastante alentadora, muchas personas que tengan enfermedades inmunológicas como lupus, diabetes mellitus, psoriasis, entre otras, podrán recibir una tercera inmunización, con lo que se podría demostrar la necesidad de este tipo de pacientes en recibir un refuerzo y así salvar muchas vida a nivel mundial.
