My Garden Journal June Update
It is now Summer and everything is moved out of the indoor garden in our sun room with a lot of my container gardening on the deck.

I have a pot on the deck that I specifically plant for the humming birds with the trumpet shaped flowers.

Here is another pot of flowers I have on the deck that has different varieties of geraniums in it that I got when my daughter-in-law was volunteering at the University Greenhouse.

I have the hoop house or covered garden all planted up with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, celery and some broccoli on the cooler side which gets some shade from a big spruce tree.

Those candy cane peppers were new to me and they sure are fancy looking with the variegated leaves and striped fruits. I haven't tasted them yet but that red and green one look just about ready to eat . I pulled a few of my other sweet peppers that were getting pretty big to make some stuffed peppers (never got a photo of them)

In front of the hoop house is my greens garden where I grow lettuce, rhubarb Swiss chard, kale, cilantro and some green onions. In this bed I have some haskap bushes which are one of the earlier fruiting berries. Their berries are beginning to turn purple. There is also some plum trees at the edge with the plums starting to fill out.

I also have another garden plot with my cool weather plants growing there. It is in a lower lying area and gets frost earlier. There I have cabbage, broccoli,cauliflower, peas, beans and a few more cucumbers and squash plants

The peas are off to a good start but the beans didn't have many germinated. I wondering if it was too cool and damp and most of the seeds rotted or it was old seed. I think I will do more germination testing with my seeds for next year so I don't get disappointed.

The moles are starting to come in to that lower garden and took out a couple of cabbage plants and snipped of the top of a cucumber plant. I did put in my metal whirly gig which vibrates the soil when the wind blows. The moles don't like this so it deters them from coming to that area. I need to find some more or some solar powered little vibrators to keep the moles away before they do any more damage. I heard caster plants were suppose to be a deterrent for moles so I will have to plant some of them around the garden next year.

In many different spots around our place I have planted lilacs and with them in bloom this time of year it smells divine!

If we head back up through the arches and around to the back courtyard the honeysuckles are in bloom there along with some other columbines.

I replied to @creativetruth how they work and they work very well for the cucumbers. I sometimes put some netting in between the poles if I have more cucumbers then poles and that works well too.

I use them for the cucumbers and they put out tendrils that attach to the bar plus the curves give the plants some support when they don't have tendrils yet.

I have never seen the candy cane peppers before. Fascinating! The pink honeysuckle in rain is so lovely! Cukes already! Everything doing so well!

Wow! @porters! you have a really beautiful and abundant garden! I really loved it. I chose a favorite (or favorites) and they were definitely the flowers for hummingbirds. I love hummingbirds, I have one tattooed on my side. 

And wow, I've never seen cucumbers growing on plants! nature is so magical. There are so many things that I loved about this post!
