Wednesday Walk - Spring Temperatures Return Along With the Birds
After Mother Nature had been playing tricks on us with a big dump of snow throwing us right back into winter, the geese had kind of disappeared for awhile then after some warmer weather with the snow receding off the fields, the geese started to return to the pond we had been watching. Once more picking their nesting spots and being very territorial over those spots.

There was a family of geese who must of landed close to another pairs spot for the one male was giving them heck and doing his best to chase them away. When they didn't leave he chased his mate away from them.

Further away was a lone male walking around on the frozen ice. I wonder if he had lost his mate or had just returned to where he was born hoping to find one. He looks kind of lonely.

On the road back from the pond there were flocks of Juncos feeding in the ditch.

Back at home the bird feeder loaded with chirping birds. There were the junco mostly feeding on the ground and redpolls and grosbeaks coming into the feeder. It was a busy place - have a look...

Under where we had been feeding the birds a huge pile of sunflower seed shells had collected, A big flock of juncos had come in and were picking their way through looking for full seeds

Some did make their way to the feeder but most of them seemed to be content to feed off the ground

This one below is one of my favorites with the Juno in the spruce tree, it makes for a prettier scene

The flocks of redpolls were still here too so they came for a feed.

This little guy was checking out the decoy I had sitting in a pot.

This grosbeak found a lookout spot on top of the feeder.

Plus our little redbreasted nuthatch returned and kept making runs to the feeder then taking them to this slated trellis where I'm sure he stashed some of the seeds and some he ate.

Really love your photos. Many different types of birds. And the geese are flying in the air. Geese here are mostly down on earth and I never really see them flying. And maybe because I stay in the city area makes it even more difficult to see all these different birds especially bigger birds flying freely.

Oh how beautiful - I had never heard of a yellow breasted robin! We're still waiting for the robins to return here then we really know it's Spring.
