Earlier today, one of the Hive proposals caught my eye. Usually, I'm oblivious to these as the few I've seen always seem to look inward at the community instead of outward to create growth. I've always felt one of the downfalls of the chain was not having enough outward looking projects that would increase the demand. Today I saw a [post](https://hive.blog/hive/@justineh/hive-exchange-listings-and-communication-pr-proposal) authored by @Justineh. Her proposal seeks compensation for her lead role in getting us listed on many exchanges, as well as ensuring reputable crypto news sites ran truthful stories during the split from Steem. 

I saw a few objections to her proposal, against the hefty amount of compensation she is asking for. And at first glance, her seeking 500 SBD daily for 60 days isn't cheap. However, despite this large request, I feel it is a huge bargain for services already provided, that for the first time ever I've voted on a proposal.

I don't think many are aware of the hefty fees that exchanges demand for a listing on their platforms. Well aware that with little to no velocity a project is doomed to failure. Take Binance for example. Despite their claims to not charging, they are reported to charge 250,000.00 and up for a listing.

I'm unsure how we can place a realistic valuation on the fees saved from her advocacy, But for myself I think it is fair to assume millions. 

Then I ask myself, how easy would it have been for Justin Sun and his circles (which includes some of these exchanges) to smear us without someone gaining the ear of reputable news outlets to give our side. It could easily have went down where most of the crypto world thought Justin was some defender of assets defending them from the "hackers" who were stealing them. 

Much of what went on to creating this fork and the success it's had has remained in the shadows for most of us. Not understanding the depth of work that went into this. 

To be blunt, when I chose this chain I did it for the community. I figured no way were we getting onto any large exchange. I envisioned the token devaluing to almost nothing. Color me impressed when I've seen the impossible happen here.

To qualify my position, despite how popular @Justineh is here in the community, I've never been part of her circle. Before voting on this proposal, I don't recall ever casting a vote for her, nor her for me. I don't vote not advocate for proposals. Before this one.

Her role in what I called above the impossible is deserving of the amount she asks for. It's a small slice of what has been saved and probably wouldn't have happened. With all these projects always seeking funding to earn off the backs of those already here, it's refreshing to see efforts turned outward to increase value outside the community. We need more of this, and we need to reward the effort already made in this case. 

Leaders take action, and if we wish to see more leaders, we need to show acknowledgment and thanks by rewarding it. Let's prove decentralization works, and doesn't just flounder in a bunch of different directions due to not having direction. Let's reward those who take up that leadership role.
