### **Why did the house of prayer in Jerusalem became a den of thieves?**

The incidence which took place in Matthew chapter 21:13
> And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

In the above passage, Jesus Christ quoted what was already written down in the scriptures.
For he said **"it is written"**
Which means that God's house was to be a house of prayer not for thieves, market or robbers.

But humans had turned it into a place of gambling.

 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.


But it wasn't so because it was already prophecised by prophet Jeremiah in Jeremiah chapter 7 verse 11 that the house which is called by his name will be turned into a den of robbers.

 Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.

Hence the temple was to be destroyed that's why Jesus Christ told his disciples ahead of time.
