Just last night, a close pal of mine had left my room for his room, after we had both watched the film Predator_killer of killers. It wasn't up to thirty minutes after he left, just as I was getting ready for bed, that he knocked again on my door, this time with a sad expression on his face. Apparently when he went back to his room, he had gone to use the bathroom and somehow his phone had fell from his hand, to the floor, breaking into different parts.

After he showed me the phone in its different parts, he had walked back to his room, looking like a defeated warrior who had lost every reason to ever fight again, and for obvious reasons, I could relate perfectly to how he was feeling.

You see, about a week ago, I found myself in a situation where both my power bank and my phone's battery was dead, due to no power supply. So I had to take my phone outside, to a shop where you can pay them to charge your gadgets. I had given everything to the man and returned home, that was probably the day I realized how useless my life was without my mobile phone and it was scary.

I could say without a doubt that that was the longest two hours (that was how long I had to wait for my phone to get charged) of my life, it was also an eye-opening moment for me because it made me realized how much my life revolved around my phone.

Although, in my defence, I live in a hostel where most times, during the day, it always feels like a graveyard due to the fact that there's barely anyone at home. Most people who live here are either students or people who work during the day, so it's mostly quiet during the day, unless on few occasions.

And what that means for those of us who don't really have a job to go out to, is that we have to remain mute inside of our rooms, and this is because personally for me, ever since I was a little kid, my dad has taught me never to make noise whenever I'm at home during the day when everyone else was at work.

And this is because you could easily be seen as someone who's irresponsible. So most times during the day, I'm always indoors with my phone, and later in the evening, I come out to sit with the boys and everyone else when they're back from work.

Anyways, back to the question, as for how long I can go without my phone, I think I can stay away from it for as long as I want, just that the first few hours would probably be the worse, then from there on I would adjust and gradually find other things to do with my time.

Luckily for me, my case isn't as severe as those people who can't go to bed without waking up at intervals to check their phone. For me, the moment I go to bed, I'm off until whenever I'm ready to get up.

But at the end of the day, I do feel like I have a phone problem and I really do need to create time where I get to just drop my phone and focus on other stuff, even if it's just for an hour.. Then I will see how it goes from there.
