>**1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;** The simplicity in the Scriptures is often clouded by the traditions of men. The words are clear and written for those who have eyes to see. > For there is one God, God is one and there is only one true God. "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord" > and one mediator between God and men, There is one God, but many men. God himself cannot be the mediator since He is one and a mediator cannot be a mediator of himself. (*Galatians 3:20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.*) A mediator is one who stands between two opposing sides and so logically and Biblically, God cannot stand as a mediator between himself and others. >the man Christ Jesus Jesus is the man chosen by God to be our mediator. God has given him all power and authority in heaven and earth and he alone reconciles us to God. These simple facts are often overlooked for the sake of tradition. Take a step back and see the truth as it is written. We must know God to love God. Jesus came not to make himself God but to glorify God and bring us back to Him. Jesus is the perfect man sent by God to be our Savior.

I love that you are committed to standing on what you believe. I have been on a few different Christian forums, and discussions are rare because they turn into a debate and then strife follows. I've never met two people, Christian or non-Christian who hold the same beliefs 100 percent. Everyone has differences, opinions, and views. Yet, there is only one truth. I haven't figured out yet, how to have discussions on certain biblical subjects (like this one.) without it turning to strife. I'll give it a try here. I do love discussing God's word, and some discussions are easier to go about, than others. You said this: ---------------------------------------------- *"There is one God, but many men. God himself cannot be the mediator since He is one and a mediator cannot be a mediator of himself. (Galatians 3:20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.) A mediator is one who stands between two opposing sides and so logically and Biblically, God cannot stand as a mediator between himself and others."* ----------------------------------------- A mediator stands in the gap, and makes intercession between God and man as you said, Moses was a mediator, and there are many examples in the scriptures where he stood in the gap. Isaiah 59 is speaking about Jesus and it's prophetic, (I believe.) Isaiah 59:15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment. Isaiah 59:16 **And he saw that there was no man,** and wondered that there was no intercessor: **therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.** Isaiah 59:17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke. Isaiah 59:18 According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence. "His arm brought Salvation, and it sustained Him." Now look at this verse: John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: "The comforter...whom I will send...the Spirit of Truth...which proceedeth from the Father. Now compare it to this verse: John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me:** **for I proceeded forth and came from God;** neither came I of myself, but he sent me. The Holy Spirit proceeded forth from God, and so did Jesus. John 16:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. John Ch. 1 says that Jesus was there in the beginning, and all things were made by Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God. John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. Jesus isn't just a man (human being) like us. He is the head over the body. Jesus said that the words that He speaks they are Spirit and they are life. John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Jesus is the word, as stated in John 1. And the word became flesh and dwelt among us. In heaven, He is seated on the throne, and when asked, Jesus explained that we will be like the angels in heaven. (Matthew 22:23-30) In Revelation Jesus is seated on the throne. In Isaiah Jesus is seated on the throne. None of the others who mediated, such as Moses, claimed to be the messiah. I believe in the deity of Christ, for several reasons that I hope that we can discuss.

I'll do my best to answer this briefly so this doesn't get out of control but it will be a bit long (sorry). Without realizing it, many people interpret the Bible based on traditions. The point of my work is to take a step back and read what is written in simplicity. I do not view the Holy Spirit as a separate person of God but rather God's own power and presence, His divine inspiration in man, His indwelling presence if you will. I believe this is the Biblical and historical view before the Roman Catholic Church changed things. The Father, by His own Holy Spirit, formed Jesus in the womb of Mary. As you show in John 8:42 Jesus did not come of his own, but God sent him. Jesus came from God in birth because God is his Father, but also God sent him forth to do His will. It's a common misconception that John 1 states that Jesus was in the beginning. The text doesn't actually say this. It says, without adding to it, that the **Word** was in the beginning. Eventually the Word became Flesh. Jesus is the Word, but that doesn't mean the Word was Jesus. The Word is literally the Word of God. It is God's command, an expression of His mind. All things were made by God's word. God speaks and it is so. >Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Jesus is the manifestation of the Word. He went forth and spoke the word of God and not his own. He was obedient in all things and showed the Word of God to all. John is explaining that Jesus is the living Word of God, not that the Word is a pre-existing Jesus. Jesus is the execution of God's wisdom: a plan realized. The Bible tells us that Jesus is "the **man** Christ Jesus". He must be a man to accomplish what He was sent to do: >Romans 5:15 For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by **one man**, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. He is not just any man, but the the Son of God and the chosen one. God is just and it is just that He send a perfect man to reconcile the sins of man. Moses, nor any other, would claim to be the messiah because they were a shadow of things to come. Jesus is the true Messiah, the one chosen by God before the beginning of the world to the Savior of all man-kind. Jesus was exalted and sits at the right hand of God. He rules over the creation until all things be fulfilled. I hope I understood your points and also made my own clear. It's a tough subject. I'll give you one thing, you seem to know your stuff and handle the Bible well. I enjoy your work. Please consider that if Jesus is the image of God, and we worship Jesus as God, then by definition we commit idolatry. God is undivided and unchanging. The foundation of the Jewish faith has always been that God is one.

pretradition, you did very well and I love the tone that you used to share. Thank you for that. When someone asks me what I believe, I more than love to share. You stated: _______________ __It's a common misconception that John 1 states that Jesus was in the beginning. The text doesn't actually say this. It says, without adding to it, that the Word was in the beginning. Eventually the Word became Flesh. Jesus is the Word, but that doesn't mean the Word was Jesus. The Word is literally the Word of God. It is God's command, an expression of His mind. All things were made by God's word. God speaks and it is so._ _Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it_ ._____________ John Ch. 1 Doesn't just say that the word was with God, it says that the word WAS God. _*John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.*_ _*John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.*_ _*John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.*_ _*John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.*_ _*Psalms 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?_* _*John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.*_ Considering the two above verses, Let's look again at John 1. *_John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not._* To bring more clarity and show whom it is referring to, watch what John the Baptist says in the same chapter. _____________ John 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. John 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. **John 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.** **John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.** John said of himself that he was the one crying in the wilderness saying: John 1:23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias. (Tied to Isaiah 40:3) The only light that lights the understanding of any man, is Christ. John testified of this. I believe this is the same light that lit the understanding of all of the prophets and apostles throughout the scriptures. I'm going to leave that there for now. I want to take a look at what you said about worshipping Jesus being idolatry. If this is the case then the wise men who brought gifts to Jesus at His birth were idolators. If it's true that worshipping Jesus is idolatry, the disciples were idolators. Here's why. **Matthew 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and **worshipped him:** and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.** Gold, frankincense and myrrh are all tied to God in the OT. (But that's another discussion.) Matthew 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? Matthew 14:32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. Matthew 14:33 Then they that were in the ship came and _**worshipped him,**_ saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God. **Matthew 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and **worshipped him.** _______ There are more passages that describe Jesus being worshiped. The disciples were Jewish and knew the commandments very well. Yet they worshiped Jesus and others did as well. I haven't seen one account where Jesus scolded them for worshipping Him. I agree with your point about worshipping God alone. In Revelations, John the Revelator: **Revelation 22:8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. Revelation 22:9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.** That was an angel in Rev 22, In the earliest books of Revelation, there are several mentions of Jesus being worshiped. "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain from the foundation of the world." I'm going to be out for a while, but I'll be back home in a few hours. Thank you for a pleasant conversation. I've studied some of the history involving the Catholic church, and we don't agree on that either.
