"But why is your mom always like that, didn't she realize you are just a teenager and you need enough rest on weekends after a very busy week at school", Blessing replied. "Seriously, I am so tired of that house and I can't wait to finish up my secondary school and go to the university so that I can have peace of mind", Samantha ended the conversation while they wait for their order. They got their food and took a comfortable spot in the cafeteria to enjoy their meal School activities ended and the girls went to their respective homes. "Mom, am home", Samantha announced her presence as she entered the parlor. Samantha's mom replied from that kitchen, "Sam, please freshen up and give me a hand in the kitchen". Samantha grumbled as she walked slowly to the kitchen, "Oh, what is this again? I should have followed Blessing to her house so that I could rest a little". "Are you insulting me?", her mother asked but Samantha denied it. Later in the day, Samantha's mom called her daughter from the sitting room but the lazy girl wouldn't answer. She knew her mom wanted to send her on an errand and it make her angry. She eventually got to the parlor where her mom was sitting and asked, "I am a small girl mom so why are you treating me like an adult?". Her mom smiled and replied, " an 18 years old is not small. You are finishing secondary school soon which means you are becoming an adult in a few months". Samantha doesn't want to be useful to her mom which makes all what her mom was teaching her stressful to her. She wants to be pampered like her friend does tell her in school. Her mom requested that she should sit beside her and Samantha did with anger which was written all over her face but her mother doesn't care about that, she just wanted to make sure she turn out to be a very useful and hard-working girl when she grow up. "You want to be treated as a baby but you always request for adult things. Let me tell you something if you don't take care of yourself and your **messy** room I will never let you rest in this house because you are a girl which means you must learn how to take care of yourself and the environment", said Samantha's mom. Her mom promised to ground her even on weekends if she refuses to turn a new leaf. Samantha knew her mom is very angry at her this time because she has never been that serious with her like that before. She could feel the anger boiling in her mom and she was scared of what the judgment her mom can make on her if she refuse to change. " I am sorry for being lazy and I promise to change," says Samantha with a sorry face. Her mom saw how sorry she was and she replied, "Until I see you taking care of that your messy room before I believe that you have truly changed". Samantha tried her possible best to change which made her mother happy and on her 18 years birthday Samantha got a surprise birthday gift from her mom for being a changed person.
