My beautiful evening walk at Iconic Pavlivsky Square, Kharkiv

To be honest, frozen winter is not enjoyable but it's better to walk around instead of staying at home especially on weekends. There are some remarkable streets in Kharkiv city that are worthy to watch and explore. Obviously, summer is the best time to walk around and enjoy every element of the city but as I have mentioned, instead of getting bored at home during the weekend, I decided to spend my evening exploring one of the prominent streets of Kharkiv city.

I took the metro and it took me around 20 minutes to reach my destiny called **Maidan Konstytutsii Metro Station**. I have been there before. But today I have decided to spend my evening exploring prominent city structures of Kharkiv city. 


Obviously, most of the structures of this city are from the Soviet period even I have seen some building which established around 1922, 1952. Most of these historical structures are administrative buildings and history says that this square first founded in 1659. Right now this is one of the central squares of Kharkiv city.

I started my walk from this location called **University Hill**, **Chervonozavods'kyi District, Kharkiv, Kharkiv Oblast**. Behind this area, **Pokrovisky Park and Alexander's bell tower of the Cathedral of the Assumption located**. This is basically a hilly area of Kharkiv city, a little bit higher from sea level.

The old name of this location was **Proletarskyi Square, Kharkiv, Ukraine** and later changed into University Hill. A lot of Cathedrals, Monasteries, and administrative buildings established here and still holding the pride of Soviet Architecture and culture. Also, a famous Georgian restaurant located here is very expensive. Near this Hill square, Lopan River is located...

Also, Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy, Kharkiv located here on this hill. The name of the street known as **Serhiivskyi Maiden**.

Soon mighty sun said goodbye and city lights invited me to enjoy the night street of Kharkiv city. After exploring Serhiivskyi Maiden I went to the adjacent street. 

Here, you will find a lot of clubs, restaurants as well as branded shops. Plus most of the prominent soviet buildings are decorated with colorful lights. Day and night view is completely different from each other. This part of the city is bright and colorful at night because of the colorful lights. The colorful defused light from the exterior of the building joyfully brightens the entire city.  

Look at the details of the building. Astounding exterior carrying the heritage of Soviet Architecture. This is an administrative building which is known as Trade Union Center. Those prominent groove lines and decorative columns are just blown away my mind. The colorful lights made the building iconic and visible during the night.

This is the Mayor's office of Kharkiv city. In front of the building, a large walkway is available for the passerby. Many people come here to walk around and enjoy the city light, especially during the evening. This area never sleeps. During summer, this location looks more beautiful...

Once upon a time, this square was known as **Rosa Luxemburg Squar**e but now it is known as **Pavlivsky Maidan**. From this square **Alexander's bell tower of the Cathedral of the Assumption** clearly visible.

Another name of this cathedral is Dormition Cathedral, Kharkiv which was the main Orthodox church of Kharkiv during the Russian Empire. It was first constructed in the 1680s. Then after a lot of renovation, this church finally reconstructed in 2006. This neoclassical cathedral used to be the second tallest building in Ukraine until the 21st century.
