My Very First Pen Drawing!!

Here is a pen portrait drawing i made 2 years ago and my very first attempt on PEN DRAWINGS...... So i am sharing it with my you as i promised earlier, and i will also take you through the basic steps on how to achieve this.

<center>**Processes of creating a pen drawing**</center>

To begin a drawing like this you need a correct sketch of your reference image. Take your time to sketch because thats the foundation of the work....try light lines, dont be afraid to make mistakes, remember drawing and art in general is all about expressing yourself.

If you are done creating the outlines and you are not satisfied with your sketch, you could make a photo grid like the one i did up there, this will help you discover your mistakes and equally give you a chance to make amends.
When you are done and fully satisfied with ya sketch, begin to build the shades.

I use both crosshatching and hatching in my drawings. Find a style you are conversate with and use it to shade. These are some of the shading techniques and styles that i drew on paper for you.

Dont rush over it. Take it a step at a time. Its okay not to complete the drawing in a day, sometimes i take upto 3 days or more to complete my artworks. Remember, Rome wasnt built in one day. Time and patience is all you need. Gradually, the forms and features will surface.

Give extra attention to the eyes, lips and hair. These areas are the heart of the work .
Do not forget to add a background to the drawing and ensure the background doesn't compete with the subject.
