## Motivation
Bit Novosti explained:
> To those who wonder, what's the big deal with this thing, and why we even bothered to publish Ethereum Classic Declaration of Independence. Especially 3 weeks after the fork events. Don't we have better (practical) things to do?Any practical steps we undertake should be based on firm foundation laid out in principles. This document is important, in the same sense that the US Declaration of Independence was important. It turns a mutiny into a revolution. It may be a formality, but an important one.
