The past 9 years have been amazing. Bitcoin has opened a door into a world where computers can be used to create monetary systems. There are already a number of billion dollar cryptocurrencies that are competing for market attention beyond bitcoin: bitcoin cash and litecoin; monero, dash and zcash; ripple and stellar. Each of these tokens are their own system or blockchain, each of them are in the top 20 on Coinmarketcap, and each has the exchange of value as their leading use case (I'm deliberately ignoring ethereum, which does that well but is designed around smart contract hosting).

Each of these tokens are expressions of electronic cash. Each has strengths and weaknesses.

But we live in an age of open innovation in money, and we can dream big. What would you put into a token if you could create it from the ground up?

This is an invitation to a discussion. I'm going to suggest things below that might be ridiculous. I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Beyond the usual attributes of money (fungibility, divisibility, usability) I'd like it to be:

**Secure** 

Decentralized mining that is accessible from most home PCs. Proof of Stake is ideal if it works as advertised and staking can be done even with a small amount.

**Fast**

Transactions should be quick enough to order coffee. Optional fees to bump priority or prevent double spending for such transactions would be nice. 

**Private**

I like the idea of a privacy coin that is discoverable by law enforcement in the case of a warrant, but otherwise obfuscated. A perfectly private coin is a bit too much like the Ring of Gygas. *I do not possess the math knowledge to know if this is possible; I propose here the ideal.*

**Reversible/Beginner Mode**

The coin has a beginner mode that requires the receiver to accept the transaction for it to go through, and an "oops" button that can be clicked to immediately reverse the transaction. Users of beginner mode may be unable to send to a paper wallet, unless there is a multi key system (like steemit's) that would allow for accepting crypto without sending it. For instance, I could have a private key on my phone that allowed me to accept transactions to my address, but the private key that allowed me to send coins would be stored in a hardware wallet. This is similar to how I can collect my steemit rewards by using my posting key, but am unable to send steem without my active key (an underutilized aspect of steemit's system, in my opinion!).

**More?**

These ideas are just off the top of my head. I'd be interested to hear what you think-have my ideas been tried already, and failed? Am I way late to the discussion? It's important in this world of discovery to think big and really imagine the money we want, because we've never lived in a time when we could actually create it.
