Diablo IV - Open Beta testing LIVE on Twitch!

Todays stream was a bit of a mess. Diablo IV is really fun but this beta isn't well optimized. It uses way more GPU power and memory than it needs to and that messes with my pc and OBS. The stream crashed a few times but I managed to get it under control eventually. Since the stream had to be restarted so many times there's several VODs out. Here's the longest one if you want to catch up:

# Stream info

As anyone proud to call them self a gamer is doing this weekend I'm going to play the Diablo IV open beta. I've been excited for this game for a few years now and the open beta will be a great way to test the game before I decide if I want to drop $70 on the full game when it releases in June.

I don't really know much about Diablo IV except that it's meant to be a more social experience than its predecessors. You could team up with others in the old games but now you'll also meet people wandering around in the world. I've also heard people mentioning that it has some similarities with Lost Ark which isn't a bad thing as long as they don't take inspiration from their monetisation strategy.

I have been a bit worried that they would ruin this game with microtransactions after seeing Diablo: Immortal. At the same time it would be weird if they did seeing the kind of backlash they got from that. Luckily, it seems like they're only doing a cosmetics shop in-game at least for now. It's kind of shitty after having to pay $70 for the game already but at least it's not intrusive to the game in any way.

The game is sick and quite immersive, such a storyline can teleport you into a different world and make you forget your own identity and real life. Wish also the blockchain games would bring such gameplay to the table. Maybe at some point, this will happen...

The storyline is quite intriguing to I'm excited to see where it goes once the game releases. I'm most impressed with the graphical upgrade from Diablo 3 and especially the character design.

I am a bit bummed a missed at least saying hey, a tad on the early side for me. The game looks sick and I've had my eyeballs on for ages, looks sick in the VOD too. Cheers man, sorry I couldn't make it.

I've flat out rebooted my system a couple times a day just to clear out the insane amount of committed ram this game eats into. I'm not sure how they are getting away saying you only need 8 gigs of system ram. With 16 gigs I can run out of ram quickly causing a game crash if I try and do to many other things. 


There also seems to be a lot more getting disconnected during beta then in early access. At least for me. I don't know how many times I've tried to switch characters and had to fully restart the game. 


Otherwise I've been having quite a blast.

I haven't been disconnected at all actually but there's been a lot of stuttering that's messing with my system. It got a bit better after i capped the framerate to 60 and lowered the graphical settings to the medium preset. Still not perfect but at least the stream didn't die. At least they'll have a lot of data to work with and fix towards full release!

Hello Pusen, I share your concerns with the game. I played Diablo Immortal all excited and then realized the gap the monetization strategy created between players. I hope they don't fuck it up that much here.

I just doubt they'll be stupid enough to implement any payable features that impact gameplay in this. If they do they're done for.

The optimization of the game is really challenging. We almost saw your computer crash and your voice became robotic for a while haha. The game looks good and I hope they don't ruin everything with microtransactions.

Well that's what a beta is for I guess. There's so many people playing it they'll have a ton of data to start working on towards release. It's a good thing the beta is so early as well. They'll have two full months to fix things.

I hope 2 months will be enough because Bannerlord spent 1 year with bugs and optimization. They added a lot of things to the game during that time, but that's another topic.

I passed by for this one. I was playing fifa 23 with a friend so it was kinda hard to really concentrate on your gameplay. I think I was active for maybe 10 minutes. I noticed the part were you were (should I say designing the warrior?) editing your character. 

It looked kinda real by I think the eyebrows looked a bit funny. None of the ones you selected looked good on the character hehe.
