Math Contest #18 [1 SBI]
Here you can keep your brain fit by solving math related problems and also earn [SBI](https://steemit.com/@steembasicincome) or sometimes other rewards by doing so.
The problems usually contain a mathematical equation that in my opinion is fun to solve or has an interesting solution.
I will also only choose problems that can be solved without additional tools(at least not if you can calculate basic stuff in your head), so don't grab your calculator, you won't need it.
*↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓*
#### Every friday and tuesday(most of the time and depending on your timezone)!
*↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓*
# Rules
#### No upvote, No resteem, No follow required!
#### I will give 1 SBI to 1 random person who put a correct or partly correct solution of the problem in a comment.
#### You have 48 hours to solve it.
#### And one more thing: If there are infinitely many solutions, I only want general solutions or integer solutions!

# Problem
Today I want to give you a fun question:
How often do you need to fold a paper until the result would be as thick as the distance between moon and earth?

A normal piece of paper is about 0.1mm thick and the distance between moon and earth is roughly 380 000 kilometers.

For those who didn't have enough yet:
How often do you need to fold the paper to have it reach through the entire observable universe?

The **radius** the observable universe is roughly 46.6 billion light years.
*↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓*

To everyone who already participated in a past contest, come back today and try a new problem(tell me if you don't want to be tagged):
@addax @ajayyy @athunderstruck @bwar @contrabourdon @golddeck @heraclio @hokkaido @iampolite @masoom @mmunited @mobi72 @mytechtrail @ninahaskin @onecent @sidekickmatt @sparkesy43 @syalla @tonimontana @vote-transfer @zuerich

In case no one gets a result(which I doubt), I will give away the prize to anyone who comments.

*↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓↑↓*

@contrabourdon sponsors this contest with 2 STEEM weekly.
You can support him by [using a witness vote on untersatz](https://v2.steemconnect.com/sign/account-witness-vote?witness=untersatz&approve=1), so he can further support this and other contests.

**The answer is 42 times**
(41 times is not enough with 219,902 km)

**How I derived my answer:**

Used the following formula to find out how many of something you will have after doubling it N nbr of times

where s is the original size

**s * 2^(n)**

A standard sheet of paper is about 0.1 mm so 42 folds would give us this:

**0.1 * 2^(42) = 439,804,651,110 mm**

Rounded that's 440 billion millimeters, or 439,805 kilometers.

Too tired to try the bonus challenge before the time runs out. I might return!😀

You need to fold a pice of paper (0,1 mm)
42 times to reach the Moon.
[439 805 km]

And to get from one edge to the other edge of the observable universe (diameter),
you have to fold the paper 103 times.
[1 014 120 480 182 580 000 000 000 km]

Why did you use a point as a "decimal separator" and as a "thousands separator"?
