<h2>Old School Blockchain RPG</h2>

Crypto Raiders is a play2earn blockchain game in the style of an old-school RPG. It's on the Polygon blockchain.

I bought into a character for this game after having a positive experience in the community discord. With great graphics in the promotional art and an enthusiastic playerbase, the game had to be fun. Right?

Well, Crypto Raiders is an example of something I have seen many times in the crypto gaming world: A game without gameplay. At least, so far.

<h2>Games Without Gameplay</h2>

It's an example of something I think is happening a lot all around the space, where the game looks nice and there's lots of good promotion towards getting people to buy in. However, when you buy in and try to play, there isn't a lot of content.

A lot of people experienced this with the "game" *Alien Worlds* on the WAX blockchain.

In the case of Crypto Raiders all I can do in my first several weeks is fight some monsters using a turn-based system with a single "attack" button.

<h2>It's Always About the People</h2></h2>

The community has been really nice to me and there seem to be a lot of real people who show up and engage with me, both on Twitter and in their discord. It's notable, something that does set Crypto Raiders apart from other blockchain games.

That is the main reason I will keep my character in CR. I won't sell. I'll even use it, playing along with the game's simple system of progression and hoping for meaningful updates in accordance with the roadmap's promises...

But I do think that a lot of games like this will exist in the next few years. Many of them will be worse, and some will even be scams.

<h2>Don't Be a Hype Person</h2>

In the long run, my take is that we need to avoid building hype around games that can't support that hype. When there is no gameplay, we need to be careful about the kind of promises we make to potential buyers. Sell on an honest promise, not on an idealized version of the game.

I hope the best for Crypto Raiders. I'll hold my character for a while.
