## Splinterland's: The Most Common Question I Get, Is playing Splinterland's Still Worth It?

When I write about the Splinterlands, I get questions from the players about how profitable it is to play the Splinterland's or is it really worth playing Splinterland's . In fact most of them are not the new players but the players that joined the game during the release of the CHAOS LEGION and airdrop of the SPS. At that time activity on the game was at peak, demand of game assets and anything related to game was too high that it almost caused game asset prices to go up around 10 to 15x as compared to the pre-SPS airdrop era. [SPS](https://hive-engine.com/trade/SPS) token that itself reached the high of $1 is now trading at 1 cent, causing your investment to become 1/100 of the original, if you invested in the peak.

So, when someone asks me if Splinterland's is still a profitable activity, my simplest answer is, "It depends on your entry points in the game and your goals in the game." To be honest, it is hard for me to explain or answer this question in depth in a reply to a comment, and more precisely, this question comes as a very repeated question that I guess keeps repeating on my post or other fellow Splinterland players' posts.  So today I will try to explain this very honestly, where and how Splinterland's is still a profitable game.

I checked the current APR for the staking SPS, and the Splintercard's site tool calculated SPS staking APR at 7.4%. At this juncture, I have a question for you that you play the game/battles where stakes SPS provides you the reward multiplier or not playing the game battles. If you already playing the game, you staked SPS is giving you much more utility in the gameplay. Even if you do not actively play the battles, then [rent your SPS](https://peakmonsters.com/rentals/tokens) for another 3% extra APR. Save you Vouchers to sell when Voucher demand is high or provide liquidity in in game VOUCHER-DEC pool. In my calculation, in in-game pool is giving almost 20% APR for providing liquidity.

Look at the LICENSE market in the Hive-Engine, LICENSES were sold at the low price  of 600 -800 Hive before the validator rewards went live. If some one has purchased LICENSCE at that time and sold after.around validator go live date, I see , you are making profit here. Also do not forget that having LICENSCE was giving voucher and SPS as rewards. I am not sure where to look at this APR, but I remember it was as high as 39% in Febrauary 2025 when both SPS and LICENSCE were cheap.

I am not sure how you are looking at the land, land is the most rarest of resource in Splinterland ecosystem capped at 150K, before Land 1.75, cheapest land plots were sold around $8, now they are $14. I can bet after land 2.0, you may not find anything below $20.

## How do entry points in the game matter?

If you see the above examples, they are all start of this year. Even DEC was trading at 67 cents per thousand DEC at one point in time at the start of the year. Currently, DEC is trading above 95 cents per thousand DEC. In same way, SPS price also doubled. I do not have to go very far back to prove that only very veteran players can earn, and any new player cannot be profitable in the game.

## How do your goals in the game matter?

With all of the above examples, you will be tempted to ask me that ,ok , how investing in cards is going to be profitable. Honestly I do not have data and my gut feeling says that they tend to lose value with time in the current scenario. But if you like to play game, have fun and  having fun is your objective then I guess you will not be minding too much that actual card has lost value. Also do not forget that these cards helped you to earn SPS.

## My 2 cents/Observation.
I will say, if you want to be connected with the game ecosystem then do follow game news and updates. Also,not everyone has same goals as you might have, so if it does not suit you, it does not mean it will not suit anyone playing the game.
Please do not judge me about the specific "entry" and "exit" points,if you deem this as wrong, then you have to understand the "equity" markets, they are working in a very much same fashion. I also understand, it is not feasible for everyone to spend a thousand dollars or above to buy a competitive deck to play, but in this case, you can keep invested in the game by stacking 1 cent SPS. So I will again say it depends on your game goal and your strategy in the  game, that can yield you profit in monetary terms.

I am currently, invested in this game for so long that my passive income in the game ,can fund many of the active investments in the game. I currently have 3 Licensce in the game, stake of 390K SPS, and so many cards that I rent out for rental income. It is not generated in a day but over a long period of time.

For me, Splinterland acts as an emotional bridge to the Hive ecosystem and frankly speaking, I do not even calculating that how much I am earning in the game or spending in the game.

At my latest activity, I am just accumulating SPT, I am not sure, will it be get dumped further or not, but having played Splinterland's for so many years, I just like to have 1 million SPT staked, especially, when some 80 HIVE or $20 can fulfill this request. I have no idea if this can yield me a "monetary" profit, but I still love to have that much SPT.
