Pandesal is a Filipino bread usually serve for breakfast and mid afternoon snacks. The main ingredients are similar to pizza dough.
It is a soft, round bread coated with bread crumbs and has a crunchy texture when freshly baked. The sweetness is just enough to balance with salt.
As decades and generations had passed, there are new variety of these bread were they add ube and purple yum filling. The most loved are cheese with cheddar cheese inside and other healthier option would be malunggay pandesal that has real dried, fine malunggay leaves and kalabasa or squash that gives a yellow color for the dough.
Today, I will try to make my own pandesal without an egg, milk and butter. This is a low cost budget friendly bread ideas to try on so let me begin.

3.Use clean bare hand and knead it. Your hand would be your testing tool if your dough was quite sticky or not.
If the dough was hard to manage or had to much liquid, you may add some flour but make sure it's just enough. Adding to much flour will not be a soft bread.
4.Add vegetable oil once all the ingredients are well incorporated. Just give a little knead and form in a ball shape.

5.In that same bowl, wipe some oil and into the dough too. Allow to rest about an hour or until it has doubled in size.
6.Take off the excess air of dough and divide in half. Cut into 8 equal parts. Dust in flour and flatten it and form into ball shape.
7.Repeat the process and roll it with cracker crumbs.Cover and let it rest for second proofing.

This is a closer look how it looks like on the inside. It soft and tasty. Quite the same pandesal which I bought in bakeries. I never knew that I would be able to make my own pandesal at a very low cost of ingredients.
I only spend less than 30 pesos by 8 large size pandesal. It's kinda addicting to bake my own breads 'cause I really save a lot and I am aware what ingredients does my bread has.
For my next blog, I will share my 2 types of bread spread and my another first try too. Thanks in advance and see you in my next blog. Chao! π
