'' You live in a realm where magic exists alongside modern life, but everyone can't see it. You have seen it all of your life while your romantic interest thinks it's all silly and your imagination. Then he sees something he can't un-see and finally believes.

The moment the giant axe flew off of the thrower's hand and came flying towards her, she knew that she would not be able to move out of the way. The weapon was too heavy, too powerful, and she was too weak. She closed her eyes as the axe whistled right through her heart. She knew that she was dead.



She wasn't dead though. The axe stopped right before it entered her heart, hovering in the air, just in front of her chest. Only a bit of the axe had entered her body. It didn't even hurt, just a bit of a stinging sensation. She opened her eyes to see if everyone else was watching. They were, all shocked at what had happened.



A man in a cloak was standing in front of her with a long, wicked blade in his left hand. He was a large man, built like a brick wall. She was surprised that he had been able to throw the axe so far, but apparently, he was just as good at sword fighting. He swiped at her attacker with the blade, knocking away the man's sword before gutting him with his own axe.



"Are you alright?" The cloaked man said, looking at her.



"Yeah, I think I am. A bit shocked, but I'll live."



"Then come, there are many more of them," The man said, leading her back into the fray.



She followed him back in, easily slicing through the rest of the attackers that came her way and watching as the large man close in on the oversized man who had launched the weapon at her. She watched as the two men circled each other, obviously set on a fight.



"Come on!" The man on the side shouted. "Fight him!"



She stepped around the battle to see the large man on the edge of the circle of giants. He seemed so calm, standing there while the other giants were using swords, spears, and axes to try and injure him. She approached the big man on the front of the ring of giants and approached him with caution.



When she was about to leap back, the man in the cloak stepped in front of her. "I wouldn't do that if I were you," he said, raising his blade. "He comes when he is ready."



She raised an eyebrow. "And how long will that take?"



"Nearly half an hour," he replied.



She turned towards him. "Nearly half an hour!?"



He smirked. "They think that they are the only ones who are willing to wait. He isn't waiting, in his mind, he is just letting them tire themselves out."



She smirked. "Clever."



He turned back to face the battle field. "He has been practicing for this for years."



"I would think that with his strength he could have taken them easily," she said, watching the fight.



"Yes, but he would rather they underestimate him for as long as possible," he replied. "It worked for him in the past and he used this as a chance to find out who his future hero was. By attacking the city unexpectedly he caught people off guard and had a chance to find out who was to become the biggest legend in the history of the world."



She looked at him. "And yet, you were the one who saved me,"



"That is the strange thing. I was supposed to have died long ago. He orchestrated the fight so that I could die but he had underestimated me too. He didn't expect me to survive that long."



"So why had he planned for you to die?"



"In order to be prepared for the battle, he had been sending people here to study the mazes and how to live on this land for clues as to how to defeat the large man. He was sending me, but I kept turning back. He was drawing me closer to him, hoping to end the war early and give him a good deal of time to find the hero. He did everything but he did not set up his plan the way he had first thought he would."
