Something I noticed lately is the lack of planning in people's life when it comes to their work, their projects, the way they do things and the rewards they want to get. People in general forget how important planning is, and even if you are the spontaneous type and you want to just do things, knowing what are the steps you need to take in order to achieve something may be really useful from time to time.
One of the best examples I could give you are all the people who want to make money online. Because we know we could make money from home, we believe it's relatively easy. You just need to create something, like a product, content or a service, and then sell it to or share it with people that are interested.
It sounds easy, but it's not. If you want to start making money online you have a lot of methods and opportunities, but if you don't know how to use them and if you're not interested in having a plan you created after making a lot of research, then chances are you'll fail.
Here's the kind of situation you would normally see when a person wants to make money online. Let's say our guy doesn't want to get a job, or has already one and wants some extra income. He knows there are many ways to make something on the Internet and with a little bit of effort you can easily have your own business or your own source of income using a website you know or one you create yourself.
He starts using Steemit, posting all kind of content on this website. It doesn't matter what, what matters is the quantity of the content. He will post almost anything he can - images, videos, articles he found in another place, stories about his personal life and images with his cats, dogs and so on.
After a while that person who was sure he will be able to make some money online pretty fast and without a lot of effort sees that despite him working for a few hours a day on Steemit, he's not making any money and his content isn't receiving a lot of attention.
That's when he will realize making money online is harder than he initially thought and he will either try a different approach or give up, being convinced that you need to be a genius to make money from home and that nobody can actually do it.
Now, let's imagine a person who wants to make money the same way, but having a plan of action and knowing exactly what he wants to do. He first starts creating a list with the skills he has and the knowledge he acquired over the years, and the list will look like this:
Skills: web design and development, python programming, animation, advanced premiere pro knowledge, writing, analytics, video editing, marketing, photoshop
Knowledge: politics, economics, people, life, philosophy, solving problems, marketing, social media, social engineering, relationships, publishing
Okay, so our guy knows a lot of things and has several skills. He knows what he knows and he's ready to use all that to create posts on Steemit. He checks the website and does some research and finds out what are the things people are interested in.
He creates an "introduceyourself" post to get himself known a little, then makes a list with some articles he wants to write, about life, about people and about social engineering. He writes 2 articles about each topic, so that's 6 articles for the next 6 days. He now has both enough content to last him for almost a week and enough free time to do something else in the meantime.
Instead of playing video games or going outside with friends he sees that a lot of people are interested in articles talking about the development of Steemit, so he works on a few ideas about developing this website. He starts creating a design for an integrated and easy to access chat, for a better category system on the website and for a better analytics system for everyone interested in complex data.
Now, if we compare both people who started publishing on Steemit, who do you think will get the most rewards for their work? I don't only bet on the second guy getting more rewards, but I'm pretty sure that he will get, in around two weeks, more than the other person in 3 months.
That's the kind of power having a plan has. You know exactly what you want to do, how to do it and when to do it. You get enough details about whatever you're interested in because of your research and that will help you create the type of content people are interested in.

One simple plan can help you get more rewards in a week than what most people get in a month.
I'm not saying you should plan everything you'll do for the next year, or that you should know exactly what you want to do and how to do it no matter what. What I'm saying is that you should at least have an idea about the kind of content you want to create and the type of reaction you'll get, how to respond to it, how to change your content depending on the feedback you get, etc.
You don't have to get into complex stuff, just to have a basic working plan for what you want to do, in general, on the place you want to work. That will help you have better results and also know what your next step is all the time, while everyone around you won't know what they should be doing.
