With a curious look I explore the world, maybe having a blog has given me a new perspective on what exists around me. This time a fish tank in a hardware store caught my attention, when I looked closely I realized that it was sharks and I admit that I was surprised because it was the first time I observed this type of marine species in captivity.

Until then I used to associate fish tanks with curious colorful fish, so when my disbelief became evident, the salesman told me that they were pangasius sharks, which can grow up to one and a half meters long, depending on the conditions in which they develop. My mind also associated this phenomenon to bonsai, the art of growing a tree in a small pot.

When I think of sharks, images of huge and ferocious predators immediately come to mind, however, the salesman (who is passionate about the subject and even showed me a video on the care of this species), indicated to me that pangasius sharks are not aggressive, have a calm behavior and live in groups without hostility.

It is important to emphasize that they feed on small fish, insects and other organisms, which are provided by their owner, since, not being in their natural habitat, they must adapt to the environment in order to survive. The time will come when the sharks will outgrow the fish tank, but that is still a long way off. In this case, the seller did not inform me about the fate of the fish.

It was very interesting to discover this type of shark, of which I was unaware of its existence. Nature is wonderful and even more so when it is appreciated directly with the senses. It is also important to keep an open mind to assimilate what is happening around us and learn something new every day, since on this occasion I went to this place to ask for a spare part for my refrigerator and in exchange I received a lesson on the pangasius shark.

Con una mirada curiosa exploro el mundo, quizás tener un blog me ha dado una nueva perspectiva con respecto a lo que existe a mi alrededor. Esta vez me llamó la atención una pecera que se encontraba en una ferretería, al observar con detenimiento me di cuenta que se trataba de tiburones y admito que quedé sorprendida porque era primera vez que observaba este tipo de especie marina en cautiverio.

Hasta ese entonces solía asociar pecera con curiosos peces de colores, así que al ser evidente mi incredulidad, el vendedor me dijo que eran tiburones pangasios, los cuales pueden llegar a medir hasta un metro y medio, tamaño que dependerá de las condiciones en las que se desarrolle. Mi mente también asoció este fenómeno al bonsái, al arte de cultivar un árbol en una pequeña maceta.

Cuando pienso en tiburones, de inmediato vienen a mí imágenes de enormes y feroces depredadores, sin embargo, el vendedor (quien es un apasionado por el tema y hasta me mostró un video sobre el cuidado de esta especie), me indicó que los tiburones pangasios no son agresivos, poseen un comportamiento tranquilo y conviven en grupos sin hostilidad.

Es importante resaltar que se alimentan de peces pequeños, insectos y otros organismos, los cuales se los facilita su dueño, en vista de que, al no encontrase en su hábitat natural, deben adaptarse al entorno para sobrevivir. Llegará el momento en que la pecera les quede pequeña a los tiburones, pero aún falta para eso. En este caso, el vendedor no me informó cuál será el destino de los peces.

Fue muy interesante descubrir este tipo de tiburón, del cual desconocía su existencia. La naturaleza es maravillosa y más cuando se aprecia directamente con los sentidos. También es importante mantener la mente abierta para asimilar lo que acontece a nuestro alrededor y aprender algo nuevo cada día ya que en esta ocasión pasé por ese local a preguntar por un repuesto para mi nevera y recibí a cambio una clase sobre el tiburón pangasio.
