# Introduction
Hello, my name is Volker aka rams11s (gamer tag) and I'm 35 years old. I grow up in Berlin as it was divorced, so I can share funny stories and sad, but in the end I'm happy that the wall came down.
## childhood with pc
From early on I was a gamer and still I am. But let me start few steps before. Since childhood I was very competetive and bored with to easy tasks. At the age around 9 I got my first C64 (guys I'm born 1982), and I was so happy with it that I started playing games like soccer, boulder dash and even started programming! It took me one week and it felt like writing thousand lines of code to move the cursor from the top left corner to the bottom right in the shape of an Z. This was a very interesting experience and turned out to be one of my major skills in business life, but let me come back later to this point.
While having a C64 I played more than I coded and at some point I wanted to become somewhat in Games Industry to live my dream. My heroes were Bill Gates (and he is it still) and the guy who brought peer to peer sharing into internet.
## school and very first touchpoints with IT
As I reached highschool it was horrible for me. I didn't have enough time to play games, but somehow I knew that I want to work with PCs and still the dream to work in games business became kind of my day dream. One day there was an IT class starting and somehow me and my best friend started to put LAN cables through the class rooms and become more and more curious about IT stuff... what a time. Unfortunately, my grades weren't good enough to go to university and that resulted in several jobs in Hotel and tourism, but far away from Gaming and IT.
## jobs and apprenticeship
First I did my service in the armee, but afterwards I started my business life as a host/entertainer. It was big fun at the age of 19 to live in a different country , so I spent 2 years in Austria without an apprenticeship or university degree. Since I'm from germany and this is very common here to learn I've started an apprenticeship as an event manager. No computer company or gaming company wanted to give me a job. And why? So simple, because I didn't have the right skills. It wasn't the fault of someone else but mine. I thought about to go step by step into e-commerce and to get a good job there. It turned out to be one of the best and worst decisions in that time. I don't want to focus on the negativ events here so I just can say, I learned a lot in a very short time.
## Business skills and Job in gaming industry
The next stop in my career was a gaming company. I stayed there for almost 4 years and learned a lot and business skills and as I pointed out in the very beginning - a very important skill. Problem Solving! This enabled me to learn a lot of things, since I always try to solve the problems and not only to complain about it. Next step was an other game related job offer were I still work and be happy to made it into gaming industry after 13 years of trying ;)
