Birdwatcher's Log : 21.10.20
Well, really! Finally! Finally, after 1.5 months we have sunny weather! It's important for me. The more light, the better the photos will be. Due to the lack of light, ISO rises, and hence the noise, besides, autofocus works either slowly or malfunctioning.

And I remind you that these are screenshots of raw photos, so the photo quality is low.

***

Wintering birds have come to us!

![_25_10_2020_120335.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmT9EWArkhut15fXhgqjcZwVSen91hbxSms2BeaRifNhY6/_25_10_2020_120335.jpg)

The first bird that I met was a female **Bullfinch**. She sat down on a maple tree and began to leisurely eat its seeds. These birds in our city are rather shy for some reason I do not understand, so I had to very carefully and leisurely get to her hiding behind the trees. I even managed to film her lunch.

![_25_10_2020_120358.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmcb9Rxa7cBNDVuiiZj2G7XhfyScRsCHhhncseH7WP5WWK/_25_10_2020_120358.jpg)

Then I heard a flock of **Redpolls**. These birds live in the north, and every winter they fly to our forests. Here they love to eat birch seeds. They fly in large flocks. Often they go down if there are dried thickets of wormwood or nettle, which are also very fond of.

![_25_10_2020_120411.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmXLWUx8hGXkhm7xCfHreYAYgSGeByGhVBn3KQ6H4Zr89u/_25_10_2020_120411.jpg)

Going a little further I saw a male **Bullfinch**. He was sitting on some kind of berry bush, it seems to be a viburnum. He neatly bit the berry and took out a seed from the pulp.

![_25_10_2020_120438.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmXwYn6z1mTDWAWVeR22TcZimhaVHE5NfZAYeb2PLPPDxA/_25_10_2020_120438.jpg)

And this is **Bohemian waxwing** another of our typical "winter" birds. They also live in flocks, and in very large flocks. Unlike bullfinches, they eat whole berries. A flock of these birds sat on the branches and cleaned their feathers, apparently they had already eaten well and sat resting. I also managed to film them.

![_25_10_2020_120452.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmZLm1XkA3aq6qFNycYa1RibrVLjoqbohkRF7L6rpfPc9x/_25_10_2020_120452.jpg)

See this buddy? While I stood and watched the birds drink from the puddle, this **Nuthatch** sat on my shoulder, thinking that I was a tree or something inanimate. Ha, I love my hunting camo suit!

![_25_10_2020_120512.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmNmG1JbAvjRpVoRiP5QmR4noFb3v14qCfFcbFNzo9YxxB/_25_10_2020_120512.jpg)

Of course I met these wonderful **Long-tailed tit**. They are quite common since the end of summer, and in summer they are practically absent, they live in secret.

![_25_10_2020_120526.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmVZwJhQtPvSR8TntHAqE5newrNfakjvsUVhBx34KGe77p/_25_10_2020_120526.jpg)

Bushes with rowan berries grow near the ravine. And it is not surprising that I saw **Fieldfare** on them. The Russian name for these birds - "Rowanier" perfectly reveals their peculiarity.

![_25_10_2020_120546.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmaCH2VDv8hFRFS6x5YNgrMQwcBX4ZBR6LmeXPM6YH6Y8R/_25_10_2020_120546.jpg)

And not far away, in the middle of the coniferous trees, this squirrel was running. She tore up the moss and carried in the hollow. She insulates the home with moss, prepares for the cold winter.

![_25_10_2020_120605.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmSfzNwnJHh5spvPjQdJBLW78MHYYU4mBYGjgJbuuDpk9x/_25_10_2020_120605.jpg)

I also heard a **Treecreeper** here. I turned on treecreepers voice on the speaker and she immediately flew in and sat on the nearest tree. The bird is very nimble and restless, and she moves in a spiral. Therefore, this type of bird is rather difficult to photograph.

After all this, I went to a very distant place. But there I was not able to take pictures of birds. There were two ravens, they just flew. I also met an Ural owl, but it was simply physically impossible to approach her, there were fallen trees and bushes all around, and all this was very close and dense to each other.

![_25_10_2020_120620.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmeWL2NHTLndChTnhgNsWjsicCR3C4BVKvdxh24vJDDSTg/_25_10_2020_120620.jpg)

On the way back, I came across this guy. As always, **White-backed woodpecker** sits on a fallen tree. They love just such fallen rotten trees, other species of woodpeckers prefer healthy standing trees.

Nice, yes light is so important. But bright sunlight is also not the best. I like when it is cloudy for taking pictures.

Yes, you are absolutely right. But we just have dark forests where it is almost always dark, and in sunny weather there is at least a little light.
