# Nagios Open source network monitoring --- ## Screenshots <center></center> <center></center> <center></center> <center></center> --- ## Hunter's comment Nagios is an open source system that monitors all types of IT infrastructure, such as systems, networks and projects, to ensure its proper functioning. It specifically monitors the softwares and hardwares of a team, monitoring the behavior of the same, sending alerts when the behavior is not appropriate. Among some of the characteristics that appear the system, are the following: Monitor network services such as: SMTP, POP3, HTTP, among others. Monitors hardware systems (Memory, disks, processor). Verify the independence of operating systems. You can program plugins to develop new programs. Nagios, works according to your requirements, supervising the networks in search of some anomalies that can be caused by links or unknown network connections, the system is able to monitor the availability, the time of use and response, of each node in the network, detects if there are problems in the facilities of any application or if the application comes with some type of defect that could cause damage to the equipment, generates reports about the results of network monitoring and also generates alerts through notifications via emails or sms, when the parameters indicated by the administrator are not met.
