<div class="text-justify"> <P align=justify> Hace unas semanas se había anunciado un show streaming en el podcast de Escuela de Nada, en el cual tres venezolanos hablan sobre distintos temas mientras dan su opinión al respecto y le agregan un poco de humor. 

> A few weeks ago, a streaming show had been announced on the Escuela de Nada podcast, where three Venezuelans talk about different topics while giving their opinion on the subject and adding a little humor. 

El show se llamaba "Leo tomando agua". "Leo" es uno de los que conforman Escuela de Nada y él tiene la costumbre de que durante la grabación suele tomar botellas de agua mientras habla, entonces, al menos yo, esperaba ver a Leo haciendo algo divertido, hablando sobre algo que le gustara (como la música) o cualquier otra cosa que lo caracterizara, así como lo caracteriza el tomar el agua durante el podcast. 

> The show was called "Leo tomando agua". "Leo" is one of the members of Escuela de Nada and he has the habit of drinking bottles of water while he talks during the recording, so, I expected to see Leo doing something fun, talking about something he likes (like music) or anything else that characterizes him, just like he characterizes drinking water during the podcast.

Yo estaba sumamente emocionada. La entrada costaba 1$ y gracias a lo que había ganado aquí en Hive podía darme ese "gustico". El show estuvo disponible por 24 horas entonces una vez que el primer grupo de personas empezó a verlo, en las redes sociales comenzaron a comentar de qué trataba (eso me dijeron mis amigas) entonces estuve todo el día desconectada de las redes para que no me hicieran "spoiler" de uno de los mejores show que iba a ver (así lo pensé). 

> I was extremely excited. The ticket was worth $1 and because of what I had won here at Hive I was give myself that "gift". The show was available for 24 hours so once the first group of people started watching it, the social networks started to comment on what it was about (that's what my friends told me) so I was disconnected from the networks all day so that they wouldn't spoil one of the best shows I was going to see (I thought so).

En fin, después de cenar me preparé un té y me puse cómoda para ver mi show. Empieza, continúa y termina. Leo estuvo literalmente 1 hora sentado frente a una cámara tomando agua. No habló, no se levantó, no hizo nada más que tomar agua. Pasado el tiempo, cuando termina el show, aparece este mensaje: 

> Anyway, after dinner I made some tea and got comfortable to watch my show. It starts, continues and ends. Leo was literally sitting in front of a camera for an hour drinking water from a bottle. He didn't speak, he didn't get up, he did nothing but drink water. After a while, when the show ends, this message appears:

No les voy a negar que al principio estuve muy molesta, la entrada era muy barata pero como venezolana, tratamos de sobrevivir con lo que tenemos y no estamos para "gastar" el dinero así sin más. Luego me di cuenta de que hice algo mucho mayor, algo que quizá no hubiese hecho aunque tuviera más dinero. 

> I'm not going to deny that at the beginning I was very upset, the entrance was very cheap but as Venezuelans, we try to survive with what we have and we are not going to spend the money just like that. Then I realized that I did something much bigger, something I probably not done even if I had more money.

Algunos catalogan lo que pasó como una "estafa" pero la verdad durante toda la promoción del show los chicos de Escuela de Nada nos dijeron que el show se trataba de Leo tomando agua. Sólo que quizás no creímos que eso realmente podía pasar. 

> Some call what happened a "scam" but the truth is that during the whole promotion of the show the kids from Escuela de Nada told us that the show was about Leo drinking water. Only maybe we didn't think that could really happen.

¿La estrategia me parece la mejor idea? No. ¿Funcionó? Si. Es innegable que en Venezuela muchas organizaciones necesitan ayuda para hacer su trabajo y para el momento del estreno del show ya se habían vendido casi 7.000 entradas, a 1$ cada una, saquen sus cuentas. Sin duda muchas personas serán ayudadas (o eso espero) y en este país es algo que se necesita, ya que no se cuenta con la ayuda del gobierno. Creo que nos deja pensando mucho en que siempre podemos aportar a este tipo de causas aunque sea con un granito de arena.

It is undeniable that in Venezuela many organizations need help to do their job and by the time the show opened, almost 7,000 tickets had been sold, at $1 each, so get out your accounts; no doubt many people will be helped (or so I hope) and in this country it is something that is needed, since you do not have the help of the government. I think it leaves us thinking a lot about how we can always contribute to this type of cause even if it is with a grain of sand.

Tu experiencia fue bastante curiosa. Es como para debatir lo ocurrido. Parece aplicaron lo que usualmente dicen muchos: "el fin justifica los medios" para lograrlo.

Totalmente de acuerdo. No me parece mala la idea , pero ese tipo de cosas hace que tú público de algún modo pierda confianza en ti. Pero, claro todo depende de la perspectiva que oonceas

Entonces literalmente el show fue tal cual como decía el título jejeje.😅 Es bueno saber que los fondos recaudados serán utilizados para una muy buena y noble causa, y tal como dijiste, no fue la mejor idea en sí, pero vaya que sí resultó (especialmente si se llegó a recaudar semejante cantidad). A good outcome for a good cause. I don't like the tactics used. It's deception no matter how it's disguised. Be upfront with people, and they will hopefully do the right thing.

The thing that interests me is what you said that even if you had the money, you probably wouldn't have given to a charitable organization and even stated that the government does not help its people.  Why not in both cases if it's known that other people in the country are struggling who need help?

Hello! Thank you for commenting. For my part, like many Venezuelans today, I am affected by the serious economic situation the country is going through. Here everything is extremely expensive and our currency is worth less every day. This situation has us thinking so much about our survival that it becomes difficult to think about others when your home is also lacking. However, like everyone else, I would like to work to be in a better economic situation, it is one of my goals in life. And with that, I have always had in mind how I want to help others with what I earn. On the part of the government, the management of the one in charge in my country does not seem to me to be adequate and part of that has led us to the situation that we Venezuelans are going through. Aquí todo es sumamente caro y nuestra moneda cada día vale menos. Esta situación nos tiene pensando tanto en nuestra supervivencia que se hace difícil pensar en los demás cuando en tu hogar también hay carencias. Sin embargo, como a todos, me gustaría trabajar para estar en una mejor situación económica, es una de mis metas en la vida. Y acompañado de eso, siempre he tenido presente como deseo el poder ayudar a otros con lo que gane. Por parte del gobierno, pues la gestión del que está al mando en mi país no me parece la adecuada y parte de eso nos ha llevado a la situación por la que estamos pasando los venezolanos. My native language is English.  I understand. I've heard others say similar things and was wondering whether the government has programs in place to help the less fortunate? Right now there are over 25 million Americans that are unemployed. They are applying for unemployment benefits, but the benefits run out after a few weeks. The pandemic just like in your country is hard here on everyone.

Also, I have a belief that if I have a dollar extra and it can help someone, then I give it freely. I'll never know when one day I may need help too. Many times I go to the grocery store to buy food. In the store, there is a barrel where you can donate food and other non-perishable items. I purchase one additional item and pn the way out the door, I drop it in the barrel. It's not much, but if everyone did it, imagine how much would be collected. 

They don't try to trick people to give. They tell them exactly what is it and how much they're asking for. That way, the giver can decide.

Me encanta...Osea, yo también hubiese pensado: Qué estafa. Pero después de leer tu reflexión me parece que fue algo super positivo. Ojalá que el total de ese dinero si sea destinado a ayudar a esas personas que necesitan tanta ayuda.
