You know how some times ask the question, why do crypto projects do airdrops? Is it a waste of money if crypto projects spend millions of dollars airdropping free coins and tokens to the community. Well, I have come to realise that recently, airdrops are just another form of advertisement and keeping the community happy, because a happy community is a kinda a successful project. When a project does airdrop for the Community its especially after performing a lot of stressful tasks, the community feels appreciated and that leads to more patronage because the community feels valued. Aside that, an airdrop makes the community perform free advert for the project. https://images.hive.blog/DQmRKE5mLzbRDJBjxBX5rzcmr9BKQg7sodkGQkM7evMw3Wt/Screenshot%202023-06-11%20at%2010.35.08%20PM.png Look at the Aptos community, after the Aptos airdrop people couldn’t stop talking about it because they felt appreciated and feel they owe it to the community to keep patronising and utilising it, look at the Ethereum Naming Service community, after their first airdrop for ENS holders, more people are still registering domain name, because of the good things airdrop receivers are saying about the project, look at optimism and arbitrum, these project are striving because the communities are grateful for being appreciated through airdrops. Arbitrum airdrop happened since march, but people are still talking about it and still using the project. But look at SUI, SUI is one crypto project I am highly disappointed in and I am in no way surprised of hoe badly their coin price is performing. So few months ago, SUI was still in testnet and devote stage, lots of people were utilising the chain through the testnet and devnet chain, because they liked the chain or believed it was going to be a huge success when it launches. SUI was the most tasking testnet I have ever tested, but I continued testing thinking that there would be an incentives for testing. Although the team had announced there won’t be any airdrop, but SUI came up with a selective presale that only accepted about only half of applicants, which made the community really angry. Ever since the launch of the SUI coin, its been one failure to the other. The value of the token has tanked so hard, the community is not patronising or saying anything positive about it. This is when I came to the acceptance that sometimes community airdrop might just be vital for the growth of a crypto project. Happy community, possibly successful project. Funny how people that want to build in crypto. Don’t do there ground work and end up building projects amiss. Crypto is all about the community.
