It comes in a variety of colors such as red, white, yellow, pink, and etc. The plant is protected by small thorns on its stem. The flower has been praised in literature as a symbol of love, compassion, and eternal beauty.   They have established a strong base in human thoughts and hearts. The Gumamela flower is said to be one of the most fragrant here in the Philippines. Because of their vibrantly colored petals, these flowering plants are widely cultivated as ornamentals.  Aside from ornamentation, the Gumamela flower is used as alternative medicine by (some locals).
