What was that saying again? 'Everyone on earth is only six handshakes away from every other person in the world'.
Six times invited to a party and then invited to the next party ... and you are able to present yourself to the king of Lombardy. Or you can ask that Russian homeless guy if he and his cat are still together.
In theory, it is possible. As long as there are always about 40 people at those parties and you shake hands with all of them. One of those hands will take you one step further to that specific unlikely encounter.

This is more easy to imagine if you count the other way around. Type in 7.6 billion earthlings in your calculator and divide it by 40 partygoers. And again by 40. And again. If you have done that 6 times, you will see a number that is easy doable for shaking hands this weekend.

How many people would an average person actually know? Faint acquaintances, schoolmates, former colleagues ... I guess the amount must be as many as 1,000.

Anyway, I know a woman from Russia. At their first meeting she could have shake hands with her babysitter, who has family in the capital of her home country. That family member might know someone at her bridge club who works in the #Moscow soup kitchens once a week. And there, every day, my homeless friend below comes to pick up some borsjt for himself and his cat for 20 rubles.
