<p>I thought I was going to finish my painting today! Instead I fixed our dryer. Now it's time to start cooking dinner and so I guess I will finish my skull painting tomorrow. </p>
<p> I had to take the dryer apart twice because I didn't attach the belt correctly. The first video didn't provide instructions for the dryer belt, it's tricky putting the belt on the the pulley and motor. My dryer has a belt sensor and if the belt is not attached correctly the dryer will not start. I thought I had broke the damn thing and felt bad.  The dryer is my daughters and very expensive. I went through the dryers manual trouble shooting list and say that one of the reasons my dryer will not start is because the belt was broke or wasn't attached correctly. I felt a huge wave of relief. I though I had attached the belt incorrectly.  I love taking things apart and fixing them. I wish I could fix people as easily as I can fix a dryer! However people object sometimes violently when I try and take them apart let alone put them back together again. </p>

<p>All you will need is a Philips screw driver! I provided the video's that I used to take the dryer apart and replace the heating element at the end of this little bragging article. There are 3 things I could fix when a dryer will not heat. The fuse, the heating element, and cleaning out the exhaust and lint trap. I had to take the drum out to get to the heating element. I had expected it would weigh a lot but it was so light I could pick it up with one hand. There was nothing too difficult to lift or move. There are several sensor that had to be disconnected when taking the front of the machine apart, that was easy as well. I am surprise how easy it is to fix machines. </p>

<p>I get a shot of elation when I can fix something. I also feel independent and I get a strong sense of self worth when I don't have to depend on someone else to fix something of mine.

<p>The dryers inside was covered in dust. My husband vacuumed out the dryer and I washed down all the pieces. When I put the dryer back together again it was as if it was new. </p>

<p>The heating element is on the right hand side of the picture. The motor is on the left hand side, the belt pulley is next to the motor. Fixing the belt was the trickiest  part of putting the dryer together. The drum has to be in it's place and you can't see the motor or pulley when attaching the belt. Thank goodness for "how to video's" on youtube! </p>
