Splinterlands has been one of the best gaming project that I am aware of and I can say that joining this was one of my best decision in cryptocurrency space. This project has completed 5 years which I think is a great achievement and team also have shared an announcement post in which they talk about some burning initiative to add more value. 5 year is a long period and if any project is able to survive so long with significant growth then it's a great project and we can expect that this will go a long way.

With the 5 years anniversary, the splinterlands team has come up with an event to burn DEC and they are going to reward people with some great rewards. This is going to be good as well as rewarding for everyone who participate and this burn will also add more value to the game ecosystem.

> Players will need to burn their DEC or DEC-B through the special event page in the Splinterlands shop for it to count for the event. DEC or DEC-B burned via other methods, including manually sending to "null" or upgrading guild buildings, will NOT count.

#### Burn Event 

This is the first time when I have seen this type of contest by the game and I believe this is a great initiative. I am going to take part to be the one contributing for the burn event. This event is about to start in couple of days and I would like to see the response by the community and I expect that the community must be excited. 


#### Participation

I will participate in the event to burn  the tokens. I have low balance for Dec but I have more of DEC-B and that I can use to to burn. I have not decided that what amount of tokens I am going to burn and I will see how the event starts with and basis on that I will be doing the same. This contest is different this time and probably it's more to add value to the gaming ecosystem. I have never seen this type of initiatives before when the community is expected to participate and do the burn. I would love to participate but before that I would like to see how others are doing so that I can plan things better for me..


#### Burn is good

We know that with burning process we reduce the supply and indirectly it impacts the token economy. We have seen burn activities by the game for chaos legion packs in the past and this way they have reduced a significant number of booster packs in the game. Now this time they are getting it done with with the support of community. So let's do it together and reduce a bigger supply away from the circulation. We also have a mechanism in place through which we can convert sps to dec and when this is done then we burn sps as well. If the supply is reduced significantly for dec then probably sps will be used to get dec and overall this is going to make things better.

#### Burn is rewarding

For the first time we are getting rewarded for participating in the burn event and rewards are quite good. They have a bigger reward pool and that contains almost every asset so it's another opportunity for us to be a winner through the participation and earn some fantastic prizes. We can not anticipate what we are going to get or even not but atleast with participation we can expect it and even if not then also we may get the badge.

So it's time for us to join the burn initiative and burn more Tokens because this way things can be much better and valueable in the game. There is a lot ok the way and on the 5 year completion the initiative is so good that we need to take part and make it success.
