The [cryptocurrency](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/cryptocurrency) segment has been growing for the last couple of years and it is good because the community is doing pretty good in terms of development and innovation. Because it is backed by the high end technology called [blockchain](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/blockchain) and there are so many new products and services offered by the industry which is why a lot of people are getting on-boarded into the crypto ecosystem. The best of crypto and blockchain is to come but I believe the future is going to the amazing and after a decade hopefully we will be able to see something that was never expected in the past crypto space.

While things are going well and the crypto community is growing across the world but with this growth, we are also getting an increase in crypto scammers and hackers who are trying to steal money from innocent people. Hackers and scammers are so advanced that they figure out different ways to cheat people. Ethically this is not the right practice because this money is earned by the people through hard work and just within a few moments these can Steal this. People who lose funds understand very well how it feels when we lose our money.

We cannot control this Canvas and hackers because they are advanced and target the people who are new here but if we follow certain practices then we can save ourselves. I also believe there has to be some educational content to make people aware so that they avoid such scams and the way they say about their funds. On social media, we can see a lot of people of Hindi free crypt to offers which I think are the scans and they just try to get the information of our wallet or something else that can give them control over our funds. 

#### How to safeguard from Scammers

There are some ways that we can follow to keep ourselves from these scammers. They are almost everywhere including Twitter, Telegram, Facebook discord, etc. I get many direct messages in discord and they offer me opportunities to earn but I just ignore them and never respond. 

* Never share any wallet-related information on an open domain and keep the keys in a safe place (probably offline as this is the safest way).
* Online things look easy but it's risky because you never know when someone can hack our pc or mobile phone to steal our personal information. It's always recommended to use a personal PC or mobile for such transactions so that no data is shared with anyone.
* Sometimes when we report any issue on social media then scammers jump in between to scam us. He either ask for the money first or shares a phishing link. Never pay any money and even don't click on any scam link. This way you can lose money. 
* Don't connect your wallet to any crypto website unless you are not sure of its authenticity.
* Don't fall into the trap of giveaways because most of the time they are fake and just try to gather our information. A genuine project will never ask for any personal information for airdrop if it asks then it can be a scam.
* Never give remote access to your PC or mobile to anyone. 
* Always download digital crypto wallets through the Official Websites
* Always check for **SSL encryption & PCI DSS-Compliance** on the website before you log in or connect the wallet. 

#### Hacking in crypto

This is a serious issue in the crypto space as these hackers are highly advanced in form of technology. They can hack exchanges and even many DeFi protocols so they even hack our online wallets if they get some sensitive information. I have heard so many incidents of hacking where exchanges have lost a huge amount of money in the hacks. Even some big exchanges have also got hacked so not sure how can we stop the hacking but at least we can ensure safety as much as possible. 

*The hardware [wallet](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-wallet) is the best solution to avoid this because no hacker can hack it as it's not connected to the internet. Even if we use the hardware wallet then also we need to keep some funds in exchange for trading and in this case we need to use 2FA for an additional layer of security. We need to try out best and choose all possible solutions to keep the money safe and never follow a casual approach. It can be a loss and money once gone with never come back so it's better to take precautionary steps in advance. If you do a google search and you will find so many results where exchanges lost money to avoid this situation with us we need to be careful.*
